In Britt Hume's News show, Mr. Hume reported that former President Jimmy Carter is asking the U.S. Administration to "give Hammas a chance" because he is sure that the militant group "will renounce terrorism" (and become peaceful) once it forms a government. Furthermore, Jimmy Carter demands that we do not cut economic aid to the Hamas regime because the Palestinians will suffer for it.

In we (the US and NGO's that depend on US funding) cut off all aid to the Palestinian Authority, so goes the argument, they shall be "forced" to turn to Saudi Arabia and Iran for funding.

So be it. Funds funneled to the competing factions of Palestinians insures the internecine fraticide continues, which keeps any faction from exerting their mischief on anybody else.

Israel should continue with the construction of the barriers between Israeli lands and the Palestinian territories. Makes for much better relations all around.
