Swann in PA...Blackwell in OH...both Black, both conservative, both football guys (Swann for obvious reasons, Blackwell also played college football at Xavier, and was apparently once drafted by the Cowboys), and both are going to WIN!
I think Scranton needs to learn, the goal is to defeat Fast Eddie Rendell's graveyard ballots and 150% Philadelphia turnout. If he can't do that, he needs to withdraw soon.
I grew up in PA and we have a saying there that everything between Philly & Pittsburg is like Albama, I doubt a black man stands a chance of getting elected there. None of the white Republicans I know will vote for a black man, a factor no one is considering.
Isn't anybody bothered that we don't know squat about Swann's political philosophy? Haven't we learned anything about the Harriet Miers flap? What kind of mandate would he have if he won, if voters have no idea what they're voting for? The only way to get any promises from him would be in the Republican primary. Once he wins that, it's too late as he'll have plenty of room to go left to beat Rendell as few Repubs will vote for Rendell over Swann. If he wins, THAT leftist move would become his mandate!
Better a football player than another lawyer.
