I have known a lot of Leftists who basically say: "Christianity is bad. Look at the Crusades! It was was only 800 years ago that you people started a war -- just to show what good Christians you were! Christianity never does anything good -- it just kills people!"

To turn that aside, an emphasis on the stories of missionaries, of the role of Christianity in the Abolition of slavery and in the Civil Rights movement, would be a good thing.

And I suspect that the Left would be more threatened by those stories than by anything else. I've been disappointed that the End of the Spear doesn't seem to have been promoted as much as I had hoped.

I recommend the DVD "Through the Gates of Splendor" which is a documentary of the original account.

It is one of the most fascinating and powerful things I have ever seen.
