A San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy who shot a 21-year-old Air Force security officer in an incident captured by a video camera appears to have violated accepted police tactics and may have committed a criminal offense, experts in the use of force by police said Wednesday.

San Bernardino County sheriff's officials have refused to release the name of the deputy, although state law makes the identity of law enforcement officers involved in shootings a matter of public record.
A source close to the investigation confirmed the identity of the deputy as Ivory J. Webb IV, 45.
Answering the front door of Webb's home, a woman said the deputy, currently on paid administrative leave, was not willing to discuss the shooting.

"In Texas, we don't just send people like this scumbag deputy (who apparently "lost" his in-car cam tape) to jail. We send them to jail and then execute them for murder.
"
Yes but the guy is alive and should recover. Its attempted murder. The cop deserves to serve the maximum. The vast majority of cops are honest, hard working public servants. Scumbags like him make their jobs a lot harder.
The police have become the military. the military have become police
This was complete crap! After firing the JBT (yes he has earned the title now) made no attempt to put distance between himself and suspect, made no attempt to clear suspect for weapons, made no attempt to cuff suspect, he just stood there like a punk and told him to shut the ___ up. Not the actions of someone who was fearful for their life http://video.google.com/videoplay?d...021042638173366 http://atlas.walagata.com/w/xgamerm...fired_chino.mp3
I'm sure this is an aberration. The fact that some folks are caring about it certainly is.
Probably because he himself couldn't believe what he'd just seen, or possibly because they made him think he'd better give it to them.
Or this was personal and the pig was getting even. I don't call him a pig for his vocation, just for his demeaner.
The type of pistol he was using will be a critical factor. Shooters will know why.
Por que?
bttt
In the other case, the kid had what appeared to be a gun and the opportunity to shoot at others through the bathroom window. Sorry, but in that case you may have to shoot first and ask questions later (since all reports are that the kid didn't try to surrender and had every indication of wanting to take people with him.)
In this case, the men are clearly on the ground in accordance with instructions, are cooperating, and should have presented little threat - if the deputy had followed standard felony stop procedures. Having been on both ends of a felony stop, I can tell you that the deputy blew it, big time.
The COP is a scum bag and needs to be in jail. He should have been fired when he was one of the people who committed another assault and got away with it.
LEO in calif don't have onboard cam's yet, the state has not given the money out for the cam's yet
You've got more faity in the feds than I do. I still remember Waco and Ruby Ridge.
So you know this cop?
Attempted murder will often get you the death sentence in Texas, too. We don't generally distinguish between the two, as the difference is minor and the actual act committed the same.
No, the difference is this situation was filmed. If the other situation had been filmed you would have a far different view.
SBSD got cams after the Rodney King incident, IIRC.
Even my local PD in Texas got cams, and they didn't have to wait for state or Fed funding.
I'm thinking this LEO in Chino had no idea he was being filmed. Did he have a partner, I wonder? Because who was handling the driver?
"Attempted murder will often get you the death sentence in Texas, too."
Huh? Can you provide any case where an attempted murder case ended with the death penalty. Just one will do.
Maybe the guy refused to support the Police Benelovent Society.
