Good to see this isn't being swept under the rug. The F.B.I.,hopefully, don't care about protecting Deputy Fife.

Ditto.
Plus, since this kid is active duty military, this may well evolve into a federal criminal prosecution......in fact I hope it does.

Not that I'm particularly in favor of shooting military personnel home on leave, but how's the FBI get jurisdiction here?

It certainly sounds like a deliberate attempt at murder by the deputy.
The witness turned the videotape over to the sherriff's office. I hope they don't "lose" it.

From what I saw the cop tried to murder the man. The cop should be prosecuted. I am relatively sure that if the cop knew he was being filmed he would have acted differently.

Huh, evading an officer at 100 miles an hour, and you do not think there is a reasonable suspicious of say, contraband....

The person who filmed the incident is saying his car was stopped and searched. The person shot was a passenger in the speeding car.

100 mph fleeing to allude, turned that into a Mandatory feloney stop. Everybody cuffed and in custody before questioning.
What the hell is a military police officer doing, getting involved in something like this?

It's not clearly written, but they aren't talking about the corvette getting searched after the chase and shooting... Ruiz, the guy who made the TAPE, has been pulled over and searched three times.
Luis Carrillo, a South Pasadena attorney, said he's helping Ruiz to make sure his rights are not violated. Carrillo said over a 12-hour period after the video tape was handed over to deputies, Ruiz was pulled over three times by officers.
"His whole vehicle gets searched. It was totally unnecessary," Carrillo said.

Gotta read the article. The FBI is involved at the request of the local U.S. Attorney's office on a civil rights angle.
I had some doubts when I first read of the incident, but the video tape is pretty damning. He put three bullets in the guy's back after telling him to get up.

Military members are under the UCMJ and federal jurisdiction.

This cop is just a damn thug. He has shamed and defiled all the many many many good cops out there doing a their job. This cop is going to burn and he should burn.
