In the court (and courts) of life and death, a little 11-year-old Massachusetts girl named Haleigh Poutre could be the next Terri Schiavo. For those who have not heard the tragic story, Haleigh was beaten nearly to death last September, allegedly by her adoptive mother and stepfather. The beating left her unconscious and barely clinging to life.
Within a week or so of the beating, her doctors had written her off. They apparently told Haleigh's court-appointed guardian, Harry Spence, that she was "virtually brain dead." Even though he had never visited her, Spence quickly went to court seeking permission to remove her respirator and feeding tube. The court agreed, a decision affirmed recently by the supreme court of Massachusetts.
And so, no doubt with the best of intentions, a little girl who had already suffered so much was stripped by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts of even the chance to fight to stay alive. If she didn't stop breathing when the respirator was removed, which doctors expected, she would slowly dehydrate to death.
Close Call
Then came the unexpected:

****In the brief, DSS referred to Poutre as having "the least amount of brain function that a person can have and still be considered alive." The agency further stated that, within a week of her hospitalization on Sept. 11, the girl was diagnosed as having a stroke of "the entire right side and most of the left side of her brain. As a result of both brain injuries, the child has no hope of any meaningful recovery," according to the brief filed by DSS General Counsel Virginia A. Peel.****

It would certainly seem that the Bent One can also use that channel to communicate with God's children. C. S. Lewis talked about it a good deal. He also managed to convey -- though only with difficulty -- the very moment when God spoke to him and brought him to his knees (if I may attempt to quote from memory), "the most dejected convert in all of England."
As to your latest tagline, I've always thought of the 72 virgins as the torture the Islamic martyrs will receive because a virgin who is truly dedicated to God won't give it up to anyone. They have God and He has them.
It took a long time for those two and others to "get all over" the Terri Schiavo story. It was being discussed here for a year or more before those outlets picked it up.
Such will likely be the case here...but only if they determine that it is what people want to see when they tune in to their shows.
It is, after all, about the ratings.
:-)
Hey, if they do give up their virginity, the next thing you know, our poor martyr will be out cleaning the garage.
CULTURE OF DEATH TAKES ANOTHER CHILD.
"Hi, PYP. I'm still around. Lurking some, posting some"
I lurk a lot too. Thanks for the pings, I appreciate it.
Diane Coleman KICKED FELOS' sorry behind all over the dais.
Diane Coleman was able to attend the 2003 Vigil. She held a press conference that was suppressed by the media and she had an assemblage of Terri supporters standing behind her.
LOL!
Hey, after I posted before I thought that maybe the virgins would all be those former nuns who taught us in Catholic grade school. Wouldn't that be a trip? I can just see Sister Mary Vincent up there right now, giving the ole martyr a piece of her mind!!
(For those who don't know, I'm just having a little bit of good Catholic humor. I never personally experienced mean nuns. Mine were all wonderful, even if they were stern sometimes. My older brothers and sister might beg to differ with me, though. They were educated pre-Vatican II, and I was more mid- to post-Vatican II.)
I remember that! She showed what an idiot Felos really is!!
By his own boast in the Koran, Mohammed would have needed 2,880 of those virgins to keep himself satisfied. The man had onions, no doubt about it.
Hospice rolls out new slogan. (I guess the last one wasn't working.)
Emboldened, daring: wfla 970 radio Jack Harris: "Hospice isn't just a place. It's a movement... "any diagnosis... most people have hospice come to their homes."
They omitted the word "euthanasia" before "movement". EUTHANASIA MOVEMENT.
Some hospices are DEATH WORSHIPPERS. Hospice of the Suncoast (Woodside Hospice).
They want your business.
Can you imagine that her child was murdered and his wife was murdered and they both made national news? Carlie's mom meets Terri's adulterous, baggy eyed WINO.
Money is the bottom line for hospices. They'll take it from the patient, the government, and then the patient's family and friends after they die (you know, the donations in lieu of flowers), anyone at all. Hospice, in Florida especially, is big business.
The media is wrongly portraying Tom Gallagher as far right to help Crist but instead, it's helping Dem Tom Davis.
God will sort it all out.

I am sorry to hear about Carlie's mom. No one should have to go through what she did with Carlie. Praying for her right now.
Hard to believe that Felos can be that out there and retain a bar license. He needs a competency exam IMO.
That a bunch of strange people can hook up with judges to kill disabled people is not an old episode of the Twilight Zone. It's the new Florida, not just for tourists any more.
I don't watch the news as much unless it's the weather.
Judge W. Douglas Baird is wicked but he did not sign the death order. He just blocked Jeb Bush who would only listen to the courts instead of sending the State Troopers in there to save Terri.
I still blame a whole host of people for Terri's murder. Jeb Bush does not get a pass. I hope that his current investigation is GENUINE. If it isn't genuine, then Jebbie has lost all credibility he had left with regard to taking care of the most vulnerable.
