"Brokeback Mountain" and a slew of other arty, less-widely seen Oscar-nominated flicks are expected to take the polish off ABC's ratings for the Academy Awards this year.
With no big-budget films like "Titanic," "Gladiator" or "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" in this season's crop of nominees, ABC may be staring down the barrel of one of the lowest-rated Oscar telecasts in recent memory when it airs on March 5, say TV-industry analysts.

If they are going to ignore the really good movies (e.g., Dukes of Hazzard), who's going to watch?
These are folks who sell soft porn to teenage boys, call it "art", and think we'll be impressed with their "talent". Gimme a break. Who knows what other delusions they're capable of...
I get a little tired of Hollywood continually patting themselves on the back. I bet even the actors themselves must hate the sight of a red carpet.
yep they're really rammin' it down our throats
Broke Butt Mountain may be Hollywierds last grasp at America for acceptance of its wierd life styles...
Gosh, I love myself!
We love ourselves too!
Allow me to take 15 minutes and tell you all about Buddahism.
"You should be ashamed of yourself George Bush!"
Looookatmeee! I am wearing an AIDS ribbon.
So den, #$%^# Bush and fuc_ing $h^&!!! HA HA HE HE! And I told his bit_h wife she could go fu_k hersef! And those Fuc_ing daughters too! Ha Ha HA! Oh S_it!
I've known the Oscars were politically-motivated and irrelevant for years, but it really hit home for me again when Cinderella Man didn't get any nods this year. It's one of the best movies to come out of Hollywood in years, and Russell Crowe deserved an Oscar for his portrayal of Jim Braddock. Of course, he didn't even get a nomination. Guess they were too busy nominating gay-lifestyle movies this year to actually recognize a great movie (IMHO).
I don't see why. I expect Brokeback to take one or two awards. There are much more pointed ways to poke in the eye of the conservative movement.
I cant watch the mutual ass kissining festivals anyway.
Yuk!
Talk about blow back.
I would watch it - however I just checked and I'm not gay.
I'm not going to watch it because it's boring -- it really is boring -- but I hope Philip Seymour Hoffman wins. The guy is an excellent actor.
Then again, I have never watched a football or basketball game either... Or even a Miss America...
Does this mean there is something wrong with me...?
Hollyweird also nominated Steven Speilberg's valentine to Palestinian terrorists for Best Picture.
Gay indoctrination and terror apologism. This will most likely be the lowest-rated Oscars of all time.
I have an idea. Schedule a whole day or two of movies that got snubbed by the Oscars. For a finale get a really big film that that got frozen out for lots of awards including "Best Picture" and run it as counter programming to the Academy Awards.
Well, you've just shown the whole show. No one needs to watch it now. :0)
I'll be watching the submarine races.
Did you know Jon Stewart is only 4 feet, 5 inches tall?
