Olympia, Wash. -- Gov. Chris Gregoire signed a gay civil rights bill into law Tuesday, though the law may be held in limbo if opponents are successful in forcing a referendum.
The measure adds "sexual orientation" to the state law that bans discrimination in housing, employment, insurance and credit.
The amendment, passed by the Legislature on Friday, makes Washington the 17th state to pass a law covering gays and lesbians, and the seventh to protect transgender people.

Bad day for the State--Fraudoire's plunging ahead with her agenda as mandated by the liberal leftists of King County (Seattle).

The measure adds "sexual orientation" to the state law that bans discrimination in housing, employment, insurance and credit. Why not whom you date? We'd best show interest in 50-50 males and females, 58% white, 30% hispanic, 12% blacks or else face civil rights violations.

It is disgusting but at least it wasn't done to us by one body of unelected judges.

No, in this case it was done by an unelected Governor.

Yeah but Tim Eyeman is on the case. Expect initiative to overturn setting up another special class of people. Pretty soon we will all belong to one government assigned class or another. Maybe you can be in several classes at once. How about a Disabled Asian Transvestite Homeless Refugee. I bet you could collect from dozens of Federal, State and local agencies, let alone private charities.
Think of the cardboard signs!

Seems a little prejudiced to me, granting one group more rights than another. Shouldn't everyone have the same rights? I thought that was the foundation of this nation, equal rights for all. Guess not, boy am I stoopid.

The amendment, passed by the Legislature on Friday, makes Washington the 17th state to pass a law covering gays and lesbians, and the seventh to protect transgender people. This calls for the obligatory picture: "Oh No, Not This Sh*t Again"

This law is not remarkable. Communists and socialists believe in group rights, not individual rights. At least the state is not setting up gulags for hetereosexual Republicans - yet.
