Good morning, all.
Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."
It's all over except the final vote tally.
Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?

The irony is this poster says they hugged their daughter....why didn't they take advantage of the SCOTUS ruling and have an abortion instead?

I think one of the posting rules 'round here is that direct insults to turds are not allowed.

Turbin is race baiting again as usual....and "It seems unlikely Alito will preserve O'Connor's moderation". "He favors the "heavy hand of government"....Blah Blah Blah...same stuff, different day.

Somebody remind Reid about all of the Democrat hours last week where NO Democrats came to the chamber to speak. I remember long periods of silence on Thursday in particular when the Senate was in a perpetual quorum call. Now we're grousing about not having enough time to speak.
These guys are in-freaking-credible.

Can they still attempt a filibuster? A real one?No, but I'd still love to see them try. Then they can kiss the next few election cycles "BYE! BYE!".

Yesterday it was a hot wind - Kennedy. Today a chill wind; death to their amoral values.

Senator Schumer, it's a saucer of what?
Cooling.
Yes, Senator, a cooling saucer. But what's cooling?
The saucer.
Of what?
Cooling. The Saucer of Cooling...

There's a chill wind blowing allright. That's Alito's robe as he dashes past on his way to the SC building.

Am I the only one who think that Vitter sounds just like the guy on SNL who plays Al Gore?

And that is ironic as well; how many times did they point out that Alito gave judgement to local authorities and not rule directly?
To: mosquitobite
No. Cloture passed. Discussion is over. It's on to the vote!
If I'm wrong, somebody correct me. But bring me flowers first.

When do they start voting?
To: mosquitobite
I thought that was decided already with the vote yesterday?! Why is the chair allowing Durbin more time?
To: RedBloodedAmerican
Democrats asking for additional time. Another fake filibuster today???
