Good morning, all.
Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."
It's all over except the final vote tally.
Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?
Byrd "Aye."
quick name a bridge after him or something.
58-42
CONFIRMED
Life is good.
Fox is saying he is going to be sworn in at the Supreme Court shortly.
Then a ceremony at the White House tomorrow!!
Great work. It decidedly raises my opinion of President Bush, who has now come through with two excellent SCOTUS appointments.
Time to start working on the third, doing the background investigations, so the administration will be ready when another opening occurs. There are some excellent candidates who have been mentioned on recent threads, beginning with Janice Rogers Brown.
Great news on that Justice Stephens quote.
We don't need no stinkin' stealth candidates. Just solid, reliable, likeable, intelligent conservative candidates, whom the Democrats will find it impossible to bork. Because the Abortion Card isn't working for them any more, in case anyone didn't notice.
Wonder how the DUites are gonna take this *evil grin*
It would be right up there with "the bombing will begin in five minutes."
absolutely trure..the idea that Hillary might appoint his successor terrifies Stevens..I'd wager further that the timing of the retirement has already been planned..like after this spring..and before the fall elections...
Fox showed 59 ayes and 42 nos. Puerto Rico vote?
DU isn't doing much better:
I have not seen one good reason posted on the board in defense of the dems not filibustering. NOT ONE.And, a no vote offers NO political cover for those who did not filibuster. In my eyes, a no vote is the same as a yes vote.
The beast voted no. No surprise, she is a babykillingmachine...she voted her heart. Or lack there of.
58-42 :)Confirmed:)
GOOD BYE O'CONNOR!
AND GOOD RIDDANCE TO YOUR BABY KILLING BUTT !
don't let the door hit you on your butt on the way out!
and Jeffords?
:-)
Make that PRAY that Alito pulls through. :)
IT'S OFFICIAL!!!! Woooooohooooooooooo!!! :*) :*)
i doubt there is anything not named BYRD in WV. good on old sheets though!
If Bush get to seat SCOUS the libs will come unglued!! ha ha good times!
its 58 to 42; the posted in the pulled thread had it wrong.
