Expert: Iran Has Nuclear Bomb

ABU DHABI [MENL] -- Iran was said to have acquired a nuclear bomb.

A leading U.S. nuclear proliferation expert said Teheran obtained an atomic bomb about a decade ago from the nuclear black market. The expert said Iran sought to produce additional nuclear weapons through technology from Pakistan and other countries.

"The one functional device Iran has," Mansoor Ijaz, a U.S. nuclear scientist, said, "is the result of clandestine transfers from Pakistan's rogue black market nuclear scientist, Abdul Qadeer Khan, who sold the Iranians antiquated but highly effective Chinese bomb designs and parts, including spherical shell casings, spherical Krytron detonation switches and empirical software testing modules."

On Saturday, Iran threatened to launch a missile strike against the West. The commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Maj. Gen. Rahim Safavi, said Teheran could retaliate with the Shihab-3 intermediate-range missile against what he termed was British efforts to foment unrest in western Iran.

If I had one, and I was fervently trying to build a few more, yes, I would not use the one I had until I could I could use 3 or 4 and back up my initial strike.

Why only take down Israel in an act of national suicide when you can take down America and Britain, too, before you meet your own end?

As insane as the mullahs are, I believe they realize how soon their end will come, when their wish is fulfilled.

My strong suspicion is that the Iranians have a nuclear capability right now - and - that OBL is sitting somewhere in Iran as we type.

Well, then we give Iraq and Israel a missile defense system that can shoot Iran's bomb down before it leaves Iranian airspace.

Problem solved.

=======================================================================================

Like h*ll! There are no "Marquis of Queensberry Rules" in the nuclear age. They don't get one shot to see if they get lucky.

Nuke Tehran, or perhaps, if one wants to be charitable, their most productive oil field; turn it into a sea of glass. Add Mecca and Medina to the target list for the next sortie. Explain to anyone left in Tehran who hasn't already left the country that they have ONE chance to give up their WMD's, and cede inspection authority to USA inspectors.

The terrorists will never be gone, and the true believers running Iran will follow the Taliban into exile to continue their never-ending Jihad with the west, but they won't have nukes or Iranian petro-dollars to run their Islamic weapons program.

Folks, if Iran gets nukes, Syria, Hezballa, and Al 'Qaeda will get nukes, and we'll be a the tender mercies of the same guys who took down the WTC towers. I'm perfectly willing to allow a few 1,000, or few 100,000 Iranians die to prevent a ground zero in my back yard.

I totally agree...

If I had any way to push such buttons, I would in a millisecond without hesitating. But, Mecca would be first on my list. (I'm good with ten key data entry.)

Glad to see that you "get it". Them or us baby! This is starting to look bad. I think we need to set an example.

[...Teheran obtained an atomic bomb about a decade ago from the nuclear black market. The expert said Iran sought to produce additional nuclear weapons...]

They took it apart to see what was inside and broke it trying to put it back together again.

P.S.
Then all their hair fell out.

BS, if they had one they'd used it by now. These rodents have no impulse control.

=========================================================================

Using the single nuc against a power who controls multiple nuc's is a losing proposition, and the radicals who intend to create one world-wide, Islamic Caliphate do not intend to lose.

Iran needs multiple nukes. However, when they have an adequate supply and ballistic delivery system, they WILL use at least one to prove their point. In the mind of the madman running Iran, a nuclear first-strike would establish Iranian (and Shiite) dominance over the Islamic world. It would put Iran at the tip of the spear of a prophetic confrontation with the West. It would prove to Muslim's everywhere the strength and righteousness of their cause. The first strike could be Israel, but more likely, Sunni or Kurdish Iraq, more than undoing everything the USA has done over the past three years.

THAT's why an Iranian nuclear power is the most dangerous concept since Hitler in WWII. They have a strategy to defeat Europe and the West, they increasingly have the means to act on it, and they have absolutely no Western (read "Judeo-Christian") concept of morality. You absolutely cannot change the behavior of people who believe the murder of innocents is god-ordained behavior, and are willing to sacrifice the world to prove it. You have to kill them.

I thought they allready had the Patriot system:

"Patriot's lower-tier air defense against tactical ballistic missiles is part of a two-tier U.S. defense against this escalating threat. Internationally, the Netherlands, Germany, Japan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Taiwan, and Greece field the system."

Hope it works!

They could get off a few first strikes, but then they are toast. I remember reading recently that Iran imports 60% of its refined oil. Logistically, they have a huge problem.

Mansoor Ijaz, a U.S. nuclear scientist,

I've heard this guy hold forth for years but this is the first time I ever saw him described as a "nuclear scientist."

DANG IT!!! I got the spherical shell casings but mistakenly grabbed the OVULAR Krytron detonation switches and now the sales rep says she can't do anything without the purchase id number on the receipt, which I threw away (I know, I know).

That's the last time I shop at Wal-Mart...

Plus in order to be a true nuclear power, you must have effective delivery systems.

You presume that we have such weapons to give?
