"since a landmark report in 2001 published under UN auspices. That report confirmed that temperatures were rising and pinned the blame on carbon emissions disgorged mainly by the burning of oil, gas and coal."
That report contains the utterly debunked "hockey stick" graph.

When Blair and his dumbnut scientists invest all their money into a houseboat manufacturer, then I'll pay attention.

In the San Francisco paper today there is a front page article on building out in the San Joaquin Valley; one tract was 5000 homes - 6 feet BELOW sea level.

Didn't we learn last August/September why we shouldn't build housing below sea level? This is ridiculous! Why can't we build homes in any of the various "green space" in the San Francisco area? Why should we destroy precious wetlands so that we might live in a swamp until next it rains, when we shall drown?

And Kyoto, if fully implemented, signed by the US and kept in place for the next 94 years would reduce global temperatures by 4/100ths of a degree.
.04 of a degree.
And that's assuming the models are correct.

"It is clear from the work presented that the risks of climate change may well be greater than we thought," Blair said in the study's foreword. What comment is necessary? You see it.

Whenever you hear "glacier are decreasing in X" question whether they're increasing in "Y".

Badly written article, similar to the 'science' employed.
In one paragraph the writer refers to polar ice sheets, in another only to Greenland, and in yet another to both polar regions.
Yes, it is true that the ice caps on Greenland and on Antartica are thickening at a fairly rapid pace. IMHO, that is what is causing glaciers in Antartica to accelerate to the sea, and breaking up the attendant sea ice sheets in the process.

build build build
developers and major contributors (to the Gub) are chomping at the bit to build out there.
it may explain why the Gub fired a bunch of folks on the state levees commission right before releasing a study that has yet to be released, coincidence?

I hear ya,, anyone can commission a study these days and make nebulous claims and ignore other studies that invalidate their own.
