DEAN UNDER FIRE FROM PARTY DEMS; NEARLY ALL CASH SPENT Mon Jan 30 2006 10:52:31 ET

Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill are privately bristling over Howard Dean’s management of the Democratic National Committee and have made those sentiments clear after new fundraising numbers showed he has spent nearly all the committee’s cash and has little left to support their efforts to gain seats this cycle, ROLL CALL reports.

Congressional leaders were furious last week when they learned the DNC has just $5.5 million in the bank, compared to the Republican National Committee’s $34 million.

Senate and House Minority Leaders Harry Reid (Nev.) and Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), along with the Senate and House campaign committee chairmen Charles Schumer (N.Y.) and Rahm Emanuel (Ill.), have made their concerns -- directly or indirectly -- known to Dean, claims the paper.

Emanuel was particularly upset last week upon seeing the latest DNC numbers.

“A lot of people are scratching their heads as to what’s going on,” said one senior Democratic aide.

Another Democratic source familiar with the party fundraising apparatus said there is “obvious displeasure” among the leaders.

But that's misleading - they need to count the cash the AFL-CIO, NEA, ACLU, Teamsters, CWA, and the NY Times have in the bank also. That's the true picture of the DNC cash position.

maybe, but if those organizations see a failed election on the horizon because the DNC has no money, they will not give nearly as much money as they usually do.

Why do I think that the money, like the Rose Law firm billing records, will some how end up with Hillary.

Ever hear the old joke about the preacher who took off with the church funds. When they caught him one member asked a deacon if they retrieved the money. The deacon replied, "No." Then the member asked how the pastor had spent the money, "Well," replied the deacon, "He spent 3/4's of it on wine and women, and he wasted the other 1/4."

I heard about that. According to police reports, he got caught with one of the women, in the church. When police arrived to arrest him, he was naked and tried to make a run for it. He was unsuccessful, as the police caught him by the organ.

Never fear...the great and powerful MoveOn.org stands ready to get around the soft money ban and dump more GO-zillions of $$$ into State level Democratic organizations. The Baldwins, Looney-Clooney & Michael Moore will have those coffers just BULGING with cash in no time!

Dean, acting as a Republican operative while acting as Chairman of the Democrat Party, has deliberately made every mistake known, and come up with some of his own. It is important that the far leftist "base" of the Democrat Party begin to believe this, as it will result in an internecine war within the party, and ultimately its effective defacto dissolution.

Dean is actually a lookalike double, the real Howard Dean being held incommunicado in a 3'x4' cell at Gitmo.

The Democrats needn't worry about formulating a new set of values and policies for the 2006 and 2008 elections, they need only descend into a chaotic quagmire of infighting, paranoia and despair, and they will have best served the interests of the American People, in the sense that they will be out of power for decades or longer.

I seem to have gotten into the habbit of reading media articles and looking for what is missing.

I think what is missing is the money . . .

I LOVE your use of the word quagmire to describe their infighting. I think it's about time we turn this word around against them for a change!

Say it with me now... The democrats are in a quagmire. Their efforts to raise campaign funds are a miserable failure...

Don't forget Terry. He did some great things for the GOP too.

Yeah, Terry had a bad case of foot-in-mouth disease, but he did raise tons of money for the Dims. Howie is much better, he has bad case of foot-in-mouth disease, but he spends tons more money than he raises.

Liberal's Welfare Network Dying Due to Unreasonable "Star" Salaries

Here are the stats from summer to fall - these are the latest ratings. Franken's program in L.A. in the key demo of 25-54 persons is down 33 percent. In San Francisco, Franken's down 24 percent. In Boston he's down 42 percent. In Portland, Oregon he's down 18 percent. And in San Antonio, Texas they dropped the whole network, Air America, altogether.

What does Franken get for this stellar performance:

During the same mid-to-late 2004 period when Air America parent Piquant LLC was quietly considering how to resolve the still-undisclosed scandal, Franken was demanding everything, including the kitchen sink.

A June, 2004 Wall Street Journal investigative report on Air America stated Al was making "over $1 million a year". That was accurate, but not for long.

Despite mixed reviews, low ratings and a perpetually shaky cash outlook, Franken was handed a virtual blank check by Piquant. Even as the extent of the Gloria Wise crisis became clear to an ever-changing series of managers, Franken pushed ahead anyway with an eye-popping 2005 compensation package.

Included was a staggering base salary boost to $1,725,000, plus fringe benefits and potential bonuses, after less than a year on the air. Nor was his bloated staff left out. The result: what is quite likely talk radio's largest-ever and most overpaid entourage, mostly from the ranks of Al's Harvard research team.

The kicker: Franken successfully insisted the entire base sum be paid in advance, during the first week of January, 2005!

Auditors!! Have your forgotten those unsavory CPA's at Arthur Anderson?? Such a short memory! Don't depend on an audit of the DNC to be 'fair and truthful'. Speakng for myself, a humble, honest Bookkeeper, it wouldn't be that difficult to find.
