Why do so many belive that "Democracy" is just "Free Elections". There's more to it that that. There needs to be a system of checks & balances.
Remember Germany freely elected Hitler.....by the time anybody wised up it was too late.
As for the Palestinians, they made their bed - lets make them sleep in it.
The wife and I came to this conclusion just last evening while watching Fox.
Hamas' success at the polls has opened the door to civil war. The Palestinians have no history of democracy, and there's no security force in-country to insure a peaceful transition to democracy. That's why it failed in Palestine, but transition has been far more successful in Iraq. Our presence in Iraq, along with our guidance in the democratic process, has been their stabilizing force.
