It seems to be time once again to play Kick the Democrats. Everyone can play, including Democrats. The rules are simple. When Republicans lose elections, it is because they didn't get enough votes. When Democrats lose elections, it is because they have lost their principles and lost their way. Or they have kept their principles, which is an even worse mistake.
Democrats represent no one who is not actually waiting in line for a latte at a Starbucks within 150 yards of the east or west coastline. They are mired in trivial lifestyle issues like, oh, abortion and gay rights and Americans killing and dying in Iraq, while the Republicans serve up meat and potatoes for real Americans, like privatizing Social Security and making damned sure the government knows who is Googling whom in this great country. Just repeat these formulas until a Democrat has been sent into frenzies of self-flagellation, or reduced to tears.
There is always a pick-up game of Kick the Democrats going on somewhere. But something about the Alito confirmationthe pathetic and apparently surprising inability of 45 Democratic senators to stop 55 Republicans from approving anyone they wantseems to have made the game suddenly a lot more popular.

I have NEVER seen a more clueless bunch of losers
than this charade of MSM/dems...
I always thought DemocRats lost elections because the Republicans "stole" them through confusing butterfly ballots and rigged touch-screen voting machines.
Am I wrong?
If one reads Mr Kinsley without the bitter veil of sarcasm, he almost has it right, by golly.
Howlin and I had a little chuckle about this Friday. Bush has been driving Democrats nuts for a long time. Ma Richards tried to warn them, but in their arrogance just ignored her.

Nuff said, where do I get in line?
I'll make Kinsley a deal... I'll bother to read the rest of this tripe if he can clearly lay out what the Democrats' "principles" are, and point me to any prominent Democrat (laughingstocks like Rangle or McKinney really don't count) publicly promoting a platform based on such "principles".
If you can not phrase the question correctly, you can not arrive at a correct answer.
The Democtrats stand for abortion on demand for any reason at any time. The American voters are begining to understand just what that really means, and are rejecting it, and with it, the Democrats that support that view.
The Democrats want to pull out of Iraq, and end the "war on terror", as if that is a real option. The American people understand that this war is not one of our making, and ending it before we win will just mean more Americans will die in this country.
The Democrats oppose any Social Security reform simply because a Republican proposes the reform. They know, as most Americans know, that Social Security as it stands today is broken, and if not changed will result in a bigger mess later.
So the Democrats know what concerns Americans, but have choosen to be on the opposite side of most voters on this issue. Unless they can convince the voters that they (the voters) are wrong, and they (the Democrats) are correct, they will continue to lose elections.
They've been using that excuse since Reagan -- they can't fathom that Reagan's ideas were popular, so they attribute his success to slick marketing and being "The Great Communicator". The latter is almost a slur, except that Reagan was an excellent communicator... but he also had a resonating message to communicate, and that's what the liberals still lack.
Naaaaaaa ... it's just more fun
Yes, and I can feel his pain. Oh Me, Oh My. Amen.
I caught on to him years ago when he was arguing that while government, through zoning laws, had the power to increase property values they had no mechanism by which they could decrease property values, when of course zoning could be used to do both.
If I'm not there give him a kick for me... :O)
This guy's a dumbass.
I believe he has multiple sclerosis
I wasn't aware that Michael Kinsley had eluded his keepers again, how long has he been loose this time?
