Hmmmmm.....people told me when I was elected to a Board in Oregon (I was an UNKNOWN)....it was because of my "name recognition." Yep....my name was At......
HOPE the same for Jason!
Atiyeh, eh. Know any Cuddeback family?
Bump and ping!
Thanks for the thread.
According to the Oregonian, Kulongoski has attended over 50 funerals for Oregon servicemen. Which one are you describing? Do you have a link? I'm curious, because while I don't agree with Kulongoski's administration, I have felt he's done an admirable job honoring Oregon's servicemen.
If this guy had to pray for a year about running, there's too much of a chance that the Lord will change his mind and pull back on his approval.
Give me someone who knew the Lord's plan for him years ago.
Nope...NOT Atiyeh......you didn't count the dots.....LOL...it's SOOOO obvious.
He sounds good... How's Mannix? Is there anything wrong with him, or is he just not as willing to press controversial issues?
I agree. The only thing he could do on illegal immigration, however, would be to do what Florida does, and deny all benefits (health care, food stamps, etc.) to illegal aliens. Anything other than that would be a responsability of Washington.
Not true - I'd take Zell Miller over Lincoln Chafee any day.
Rossi is a multi-millionaire who self-financed his campaign. His strategy of uniting suburbanites, east-of-the-Cascades residents, and conservative Democrats (ie the blue collar Dems in Pierce and Thurston counties in the case of Rossi) could work for Atkinson.
Wasn't former RAT Governor Kitzhaber (sp?) thinking of running? It sounded like he'd be harder to beat than Kulongoski.
I thought Mannix was acceptably conservative for a socially liberal state like Oregon. Sounds to me like Atkinson should wait for another race to come up.
It's a shame that DeFazio's 4th CD includes only part of Josephine County but not Grants Pass, so Atkinson lives just outside the CD 9 (and currently represents few of its voters). President Bush got 49% in DeFazio's mostly blue-collar district in both 2000 and 2004, and a pro-life religious conservative such as Atkinson could send DeFazio packing once and for all.
Frankly, I wish that Kevin Mannix would run against Darlene Hooley, but he doesn't want to live in D.C. and his heart is set on the Governorship.
Mannix came tantalizingly close to being elected Governor in 2002 and ran a strong race for state Attorney General in 2000. It would be great if he were to win this one.
Hes a sore loser, lost 3 state races. Paid his debt from his run for governor in 02, with the state republican parties money. Was are state chair and never put up good canidates.
When he ran thats the first thing I thought. Hes got some support from democrat politician and has more respect from environmental groups then most republicans get. He has a good shot to gain democrat supports even though hes the most conservative canidate.
He would be better running against Hooley I agree. But he isnt going to get closer running for Governor as he did in 02. Many republicans are tired of Mannix, and in the Portland area (where the most votes are) he isnt liked at all.
Kitzhaber was being actively courted, but he decided against it. I heard a claim in the thread that Mannix is anti-gun, which I had never heard (a position like that would be fatal for a GOP candidate outside Portland and Eugene). I agree it's ridiculous that no one of any substance has tried to challenge DeFazio in the past 20 years in such a marginal district. He votes like he's representing downtown Portland.
Me too, Atkinson ~ Bump!
