I doubt that it's legal for a bounty hunter to break into someone's house.

You think? :') Would he have been arrested if he made a mistake and broke in to your grandma's house?

...an obscure 1872 Supreme Court ruling holding the bail contract to be a unique civil affair between the bailee and the bondsman, empowering the bondsman or his employees to use any means necessary to return a bailee who flees.

The law isn't too complicated. B&E 'is' on the table of things allowed.

Actually it is. As long as the bounty hunter is breaking into the CORRECT house.

Ih a bounty hunter has information that a fugitive is hiding out at a certain address, he has the right to go there, kick the door in, enter the place, cuff and drag the fugitive away...all without a warrant.

However, if the bounty hunter makes the mistake of breaking into the wrong house, then he's up S$%#s creek without a paddle.

Its contractual between the bonding company and the person bonding. It says they can basically use whatever means necessary for recovery.

The problem, of course, comes in situations like this.
