"I wish that were true but in reality the blue states have more going against them than just abortion." It's my personal opinion that if/when abortion is made illegal again many other evils in our country will begin to fall away with it. I realize that on a site like FR politics reigns king and is the ultimate solution in the minds of most, but there's only one real King, and He can make the sailing a lot smoother for a nation that respects Him.

No, it's not that I think that politics changes things for the better, it's just that I think that the more progressive states are closer to Godless Europe than Middle America.
I pray you're right. I pray that with this horror behind us, God will smile on the whole nation and set them right.

Me thinks that it won't be too much longer before "We the People" are looking back on pro choicers with the same disgust that we look back on pro slavers. Abortion is to the 20th and early 21st century as slavery was to the 19th. Both were morally reprehensible, and both were, at one time, supported by the US Supreme Court.

It was just a typical week in Middle America where the decades-old debate over abortion rights has become a full-blown battle. But even as they continue to raise money and march around state capitols, the view from the pro-choice side is this is a fight they are losing. Wonder which abortions they think have been limited?

"The pro-abort folks are losing the battle with science, not with the right to life groups. So much more is known. So much more can be seen. We didn't worry about what we couldn't see. Now like Thomas we see. And we believe."
That's awesome! Post of the week vote.

Assuming Roe v Wade is overturned and assuming all red states then outlaw abortion, does anyone think any of the blue states will also outlaw abortion, or will all blue states promptly offer abortions? There would probably be varying degrees of abortion allowed in the blue states, and yes, even in the red states.
Personally, I think abortion should be outlawed at the federal level. After all, the primary right is the right to life. All others are meaningless if one is not alive.

Wouldn't the Democrats be forced to drop their hardline pro-abortion positions?

Federal level? It should be a UN-mandated, global ban on abortion.

That's right: when Mom sees the baby, she's more likely to fall in love than to schedule a planned execution.
That's why the pro-abort groups always have to pretend it's not about the baby:
"It's a mystery to me how we've elected such right-wing lawmakers who are trying to keep government off our backs, but apparently don't mind putting government in our bedrooms," said Thelma Underberg, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice South Dakota."
"In our bedrooms???" She thinks they do abortions in bedrooms?
Normally, people use bedrooms for making love, making babies, and cuddling with their kids. People who are missing out on THAT are missing out on a whole lot of pleasure, love, and joy.

global ban on abortion.I would like to see that as well. But I was saying 'federally mandated' as opposed to allowing individual states to make up their minds about abortion.

Wouldn't the Democrats be forced to drop their hardline pro-abortion positions?I think you'd still have abortion on demand at any time during a pregnancy in at least some of the coastal states, but some of the blue states would set restrictions.
On the other hand, red states would be unlikely to completely outlaw abortion, except maybe for a few. Most would probably end up with laws that permit abortion in the first trimester.

I disagree, many Southern states (Miss, Alabama) Western states (Utah, Idaho) would certainly outlaw it completely. In my opinion, the red states would largely outlaw it, except for actual medical emergencies which might kill the mother, which do happen once in a while, but has been used as a loop hole concept all this time to justify all abortions.

Wow, arresting line that has lots of extensions like:
she's more likely to fall in love than to break out the forceps,
or
she's more likely to fall in love than reach for trash bag.
Lots of brutal, but oh-so-true implications in that line of yours!!!

After all, we are talking about the right to life here. . .a right endowed to us by our Creator.
