Wouldn't the Democrats be forced to drop their hardline pro-abortion positions?

I think you'd still have abortion on demand at any time during a pregnancy in at least some of the coastal states, but some of the blue states would set restrictions.

On the other hand, red states would be unlikely to completely outlaw abortion, except maybe for a few. Most would probably end up with laws that permit abortion in the first trimester.

I disagree, many Southern states (Miss, Alabama) Western states (Utah, Idaho) would certainly outlaw it completely. In my opinion, the red states would largely outlaw it, except for actual medical emergencies which might kill the mother, which do happen once in a while, but has been used as a loop hole concept all this time to justify all abortions.
