King Kong and Higher Education
H-AMSTUDY ^ | January 19, 2006 | Kelvin Monroe

Ok, Freepers:

As some of you know I occassionally work with films. This "review" of King Kong was posted to H-AMSTUDY, the main list serve for professionals in American Studies. Many, many academics wrote in agreement. If, after reading this, you want to know what it is like for your sons and daughters in college, go to the following web site and type King Coon into the search engine. You will get maybe two dozen responses which, with one exception, are supportive of this statement.

King Kong is, in my opinion, a subtle celebration of the Atlantic Slave trade and slavery in Amerikkka.

King King, first off is a metaphor for the ultimate "nigga." It is here that i make a brief reference to the movie _Training Day_. Alonzo remarks "King Kong ain't got nothing on me." He is the ultimate form of threat to the state organism, public enemy no. 1. Alonzo's death in _Training Day_ is nothing short of a lynching, much similar to Kong's death in the original, or I think about the Tracy Macgrady's commercial where he is oversized and he drives to the basket, while there are tanks, jets---a military arsenal "attacking" him, trying to restrain him. I think in someway King Kong is ultimately connected and and the source of white supremacist discourses against black people in genral, black males specifically.

Not to mention that he is supposed to fall in love in a white woman. In the imgaination of most white people, it seems to me that they all really want to believe that every black man secretly desires a white woman.

Further, white women (these same white feminists who are critiquing men of color at every turn about our sexism/masculinism) should be up in shambles as well: in the words of Paul Mooney, hollywood always got white women fallin in love/trying to love/ trying to change freaks and beasts and killers; and then when serial killers kill 20, 30, 40, 50 white women over a period of time, then they wonder what was the influence. You tell people in the movies that it is okay to kill white women and then when cats do that shit for real you wonder what about the problem ....Then in a nod to racist criminal justice system (that just murdered Tookie Williams), you have these white judges/authorities that somehow see themselves in these white killers and then they allow these white killers to pick a personality and call it insanity/crazy all because some white man feels like he can relate to other white men... well, paraphrasing historian Ishakramusa Barashango, the basic nature of the European American remains unchanged......

...In the original 1933 version, King Kong blows on the woman (with his stank-ass gorilla breath), after washing her off in the water...one can see that she is clearly gettin off on this shit....that is nothing more than beastiality.

King Kong resides in Africa, their object is to cage him up and bring him to Amerikkka and make money off of him thru exhibitions--the history in the country is terrible when it comes to exhibiting "Natives" to the rest of the world...Sounds like the St. Louis Exhibition, the Columbia Exhibition and so on and so forth....these are "natives" are people not objects....however, they keep King Coon, I mean King Kong locked up and use him for profit.......Then peep the violent measures the state takes against the ultimate "nigga." This is slavery and nothing more... e'nuff said.

And in the 21st century there is a need to remake this bullshit that was clearly some bullshit in 1933. And on some other shit, the only cannibals that I know of are white--Hannibal Lester and Jeff Dahmer (who eats black people), and the whole time it is white people telling the world that black in Africa are cannibals....when the whole time the psychological projections points to the real cannibals....again, Jeff Dahmer, oh, that movie _Alive_ when the white people start eating each other on the mountain side...

see it is late in the day for the bullshit, i am sick and tired of this racism in the 21st century--blatent, and bold racism. Then White people are quick to wanna say "you black people are so paranoid." but who murdered Africa, the World Health Organization; before 1978 there was no blood with HIV contamination...my point is this: we ain't paranoid, i mean in what other way can King Kong be relevant to humans, especially since King Kongs donot exist...so what is this movie really about? People use crackhead as if it signifies a particular race of people, the term crackhead is racialized---(70% of the crackhead users in Amerikkka are white)...Talk about crackheads, aren't there crackheads in Hollywood. There must be, because only crackheads write this kind of shit and then get other crackheads to produce and direct these crackhead stories/fantasies/imaginations...look at Edward ScissorsHands....that is some crackhead stuff.....

this is just a snap, there might be errors in this post/email.... I just this is worth some conversation on an American Studies listserve.

peace and one,

You know, I have often called the lefties around me facists, but you put it very clearly. Whites (and blacks like Sowell and Asians who are successful) really have become the "Jews" of this new order. Great insight.

What is it? The successful should perish?

African studies is where they put blacks who would be failing elsewhere. I would imagine it's also a way to hire black professors without damaging a real department

I am not sure there are any real departments left--at least on the Liberal Arts side of the equation.

The greatest threat to academic freedom are the academics.

I am sorry, but I cannot give this review the proper sort of attention unless it is posted in rap form.
