Incoherent, paranoid, and hostile. Typical leftist rant.

Leaving aside the blatant paranoid racism of the author, he could benefit from going through a remedial writing course or two.

If this is what passes for writing by college professors, it's no wonder that so many kids are nearly illiterate when they graduate from 'coleje'.

Well. Where to begin? The person who wrote this is someone who would see racism in a young white girl with pigtails buying a Snickers bar in a 7-11.

I saw the movie. I liked it better than the original. And I thought King Kong came off as a very positive character. He was gentle and devoted (if not obsessed)

The guy who wrote this crap needs to lay off of the bong, or at least stop drinking the bong water.

Well, there is so much ignorance listed here, my instincts say "Why bother?" One would need to write pages upon pages just to correct it.

Try: "King Kong resides in Africa..."

WRONG!

or:"oh, that movie _Alive_ when the white people start eating each other on the mountain side... "

Why are Latinos considered to be "people of color" when it suits the purposes of idiots like this author, but "white people" when they want that description to fit them??

As I said, "Why bother", so that's as far as I will go...

I read the same basic critique of the original King Kong back in the 70's. It's been a very popular interpretation among the arts and croissant crowd for years, although they didn't used to curse in their reviews nearly as much.

"...Then White people are quick to wanna say "you black people are so paranoid..."

Let me guess. This person probably got an "A" on this "essay".

You hit the nail right on the head. I was having a discussion with my sister-in-law, whose son goes to UMass Amherst. She told me he made Dean's List.

Normally, my first thought would be "That's great!", but instead, my first thought was, "What the hell does making Dean's List mean at a place like UMass Amherst?" My nephew is a good kid, and smart too, so I don't have much doubt he would make Dean's List no matter where he went to school or what era he studied in. I was disappointed that was the first thought into my head. And an accurate concern it is, too.

If you attended the conferences I attend, you would be even more worried. Not every one SOUNDS like this, but almost all of them MEAN what this guy posted. For instance, this is a post from FSU--and I know many FREEPERS are in Florida. Date: Fri 20 Jan 16:37:17 EST 2006 From: Peggy Wright-Cleveland I, too, was amazed and concerned over the racism in King Kong. ?The portrayal of the primitive peoples was beyond appalling and eventually nonsensical. It seems a dire indictment of America that we have made this same movie three times; seventy years worth of "not getting it." My more generous take on the movie is that it is an indictment against capitalism. This new version spends upwards of 60 minutes developing the ego and capital that drove the director to take such a risk. Still, I refuse to believe that the only solution for Africans/Natives/Kongs/anything-other-than-white-men in America is destruction. I thought the sexual connection between Kong and the girl was downplayed in this movie. Does anyone agree? And, I think the female is portrayed as stronger. Still, she can defeat/charm a giant gorilla but can't prevent regular men from kidnapping him? Oh, come on... Peggy Wright-Cleveland FSU

"...although they didn't used to curse in their reviews nearly as much..."

Isn't THAT the truth. But it considered chic in many circles to speak as if you came from "The Hood". If you are a black person, and you speak like Thomas Sowell instead of someone like the aptly named "Ludacris", you better prepare yourself for a character assasination from people who look like you.

By the way, as per your nephew, he can get a sane education even at UMASS--but he MUST stay our of the liberal arts majors and go toward things where people actually have to do counting.

Avoid the social sciences, too, which are rank with dishonest and cooked data--most of which is used for ideological purposes.

...In the original 1933 version, King Kong blows on the woman (with his stank-ass gorilla breath), after washing her off in the water

This never happens in the film.

the only cannibals that I know of are white--Hannibal Lester and Jeff Dahmer

He gets his historical (hysterical) info from movies. And academics lauded this racist numbskull.......

Not to be picky, but someone's got their big monkeys mixed up. Mighty Joe Young came from Africa, not King Kong.

Uh...the court didn't kill Tookie, he did that when he got caught after committing multiple murders of non black people. Asians, IIRC. Dahmer didn't eat only black boys, but Asian and white boys as well. The only boy ever to escape him was Asian. Dahmer had tried to lobotomize him. He was confused and had lost the power of speech. A helpful neighbor led the boy back into Dahmer's apartment.

I give up. There are just too many inconsistancies in this rant to bother correcting. The only thing I agree with is that King Kong SUCKED as a movie EVERY TIME it was made.

His sudden transition into a rant on Training Day (which was an awesome movie, by the way) was hillarious. I don't know how you could possibly describe Alonzo's death as a "lynhcing," or even racially motivated. Hell, the only person in Training Day who talks about Alonzo's race is Alonzo. Nobody else seems to care what color he is.
