LEE: There seems to be a collective social consciousness.
SPIELBERG: I think we all have been given our marching orders... Maybe I shouldn't get into this. [Pause] I just feel that filmmakers are much more proactive since the second Bush administration. I think that everybody is trying to declare their independence and state their case for the things that we believe in. No one is really representing us, so we're now representing our own feelings, and we're trying to strike back.
So Bush has been good for film? SPIELBERG: I wouldn't just say Bush. The whole neo-conservative movement.
CLOONEY: Because it's polarizing. I'm not going to sit up and say, "This is how you should think." But let's at least acknowledge that there should be an open debate, and not be told that it's unpatriotic to ask questions. Steven, you're taking it from all sides right now.

Hey proactive film people, ever wonder why Hollywood is in a slump since Bush got elected?
It is amazing that they think they are the concience of America. Arn't these the same clowns we use to beat up in High School?
Sour grapes from a self-hating Jew since his pro-terrorist Munich has bombed bigtime and isn't even in the top 13 this weekend. And what's even funnier, is that the fudgepacking sheepherder movie is going to make more money that Spielberg's flop.
Mr. Clooney, we had an open debate in november 2004. You lost, now shut up, be patriotic and support this country. Our next debate will be in 2008. If you guys win, I will still try to make this country better. You guys are doing nothing but trying to tear America down.
Proactive this Hurlberg
Hey Stevie, hey Georgie. Listen up.
You're not even close to the worth of time and resources it would take to pay attention to your "beliefs". Most of us "neocons" as you so blithely and ignorantly label us are more concerned with defeating a suicidal enemy that wants to kill all Jews planet-wide and subjugate the rest of us to Islamic rule. OUR feet are firmly on the Ground of Moral Clarity and our heads are in the air, the exact opposite of you self-righteous Hollywood Liberals.
Speaking for myself, I'm glad you idiots don't have the ear of the President like you used to. Gives the rest of us a chance to save this country and most of the world before it's destroyed.
So, nobody outside your own little elite clique cares about your worthless political opinions. Stick to what you know best: The Art Of Make-Believe...
GMTA
Exactly!
These members of the hive are clueless.
Spielberg's comment doesn't even make any sense... He states it took him six years to make Munich. How long has Bush been in office? And he was able to release Munich... Bush didn't stop him from releasing it... what on earth is he talking about?
Good point. A reminder of how Clinton used to run out to Hollywood and wallow in it.
These fools live in a delusional world where Bush is taking away their freedoms and rights but when you ask them to name one instance they say..."well it's coming.."
The above poster is right. The Hollyweirdoes are delusional. THEY are the conscience of America? At a time when theaters are showing their garbage to empty seats? Gimme a break.
It was Spielberg's decision not to promote Munich. That maybe why it ain't selling at the box office. I saw it and found it to be a very good movie.
My God, these people are full of themselves.
The most galling thing about them is that they complain about censorship, and whatever other term they can think of, when people CHOOSE not to watch their garbage and then twist it into some screed about how they are being oppressed for their views.
Only in America can some blowhard, whose only talent is reading dialouge or using a camera, making millions of dollars claim that he is being oppressed. What arrogance!
I for one don't spend my money on these lowlifes anymore. Read a book instead.
hollywood and its so called stars failing? Ah, a dream come true!!!
What part of entertainment do these clowns not understand?
