Washed up baseball players can still make a killing by autographing baseballs for their old fans. For ex-president Bill Clinton, it's even easier to cash in on his political celebrity.
Mr. Clinton will be charging $5,000 a piece to New Zealand businessmen who want to spend an hour in his presence when he travels to Auckland next month.
Reports the New Zealand Herald:
"A small group can book an hour with the former president for $5000 a head and for that they will get a handshake and a photograph and a chance to mingle with the only Democratic president the win two terms in the last 60 years."
Mr. Clinton is offering a volume discount for groups of 50 or more - who will pay a mere $150,000 [$3,000 a head] for the honor of basking in his aura.
Clinton's handshake fee is in addition the $2,400 cost of attending the one-day business forum. [$1,895 if tickets purchased before Jan. 31.)
Other speakers include former Disney Corp. CEO Michael Eisner and Carly Fiorina, who used to run Hewlett Packard.
Mr. Eisner and Ms. Fiorina will apparently be shaking hands at no extra cost.
Who would shake hands with this guy?
You KNOW where that hand has been!
What if he offers you a cigar?!
I'd laugh if no one bothered to buy a ticket.
A fool and his money are soon parted.
Damn! You beat me to it!
But beyond Clinton's greed, New Zealand should ban the bastard for sending the corrupt Carol Mosely Braun as U.S. Ambassador to their beautiful country.
Warning: Do not shake hands with Clinton if his fingers are stuck together.
Michael Eisner and Carly Fiorina and Clinton---three incompetent - and in the case of Clinton - dangerous - fools who destroyed or undermined the organizations they controlled.
"Willing young women" get to shake something else and share a cigar.
I don't think that I'd want to buy stock of any company run by a person that would pay good money to shake Clinton's hand and listen to the likes of Michael Eisner and Carly Fiorina (two CEOs who destroyed shareholder value at Disney and HP, respectively.)
The criminal enterprise continues, yes, but I gain some solace in knowing that all the money in the world will never buy him the historical repute of greatness he believes he justly deserves.
The foul taint of corruption and debauchery will instead not only color the chapters in history books to come but also cloak his dead body--a body not one second deceased too soon for me so that I no longer have to read about sordid events such as the one you posted here.
Regards . . . Penny
Just goes to prove that the man is a prostitute.
"What if he offers you a cigar?!"
Even worse: What if Bubba offers the guy's wife or daughter a cigar?
OMG I forgot that travesty...Thanks for reminding us...
Does the word "Whore" apply here?
Where can I get one of these? It would look great with the Sacred Bleeding Heart of Bobby Kennedy throw rugs in the den.
