"Danger to agents will continue to increase until those areas are secure," Aguilar said.

"As more agents get assigned to the border, the Border Patrol is taking control of areas that have been historically used by criminal gangs who are reluctant to give them up, Aguilar said." Better late than never, but I'll never understand why the border situation has gotten this bad. It had better improve before the next election or the Republicans are going to get the blame. This is one area that is "Bush's fault"

I think the danger and violence should escalate. But we need to be on the giving end and the illegal immigrants on the receiving end. What's Mexico going to do about it, invade us????? Nigga Puhleez

The severity of the border problems will only become apparent when we seal the border. I am convinced the masses here in America have no idea what is happening along the border -- just as the Bush admin wants it. There is NO issue that faces our country that comes close to the open border issue. If we do not control our border there will be no "we" left.

Although smugglers are using heavy military equipment, it should never get to the point where the Border Patrol has to take on similar equipment, Aguilar said. This made me think of little yellow ducks with bulls-eyes on them in a carnival shooting gallery.

It's time to evaluate whether or not Mexico really is an ally, or even a free country, and plan accordingly.

"moving into gang controlled areas?"
Just how much of the Mex. border has been controlled by gangs all these years? And, why? Who's policy was that?
Get the US military to the border NOW!
Build the wall over the entire Mex. border!
Remove the 11 million or more illegals from our homeland NOW!
END OF PROBLEM
WHAT PART OF THAT ABOVE DON'T THE U.S. CONGRESS UNDERSTAND?

Count on it, a Mexican soldier will shoot and kill one or more US border agents in an incident they can't sweep under the rug. Mexicans have contempt for the US vis a vis border control, and why not? They think they have a not so secret arrangement to 'integrate' with the US, and on their terms. Well, the border problem will be huge in '08, and maybe in '06 if we have a few more gunfights.

the Border Patrol is taking control of areas that have been historically used by criminal gangs who are reluctant to give them up As I recall, the Japanese were reluctant to give up Iwo Jima a few decades ago. I believe the solution was to send some United States Marine Corps diplomats in to discuss the matter. And I believe the Japanese were convinced to turn the island over the the United States.

I'll NEVER understand why, especially after these events where our border agents are getting SHOT at, that the fed. gov. doesn't put some National Guard units down there to help the agents and tell them they should be shooting back....I know, I think by law, the National Guard isn't supposed to do that sort of thing in our country....but then what's wrong with putting some of our military down there. This is, after all, an invasion, assaults on American citizens!
And I REALLY wish SOMEONE in this gov., be it the President, members of the Administration, or even one member of Congress go before the cameras and reporters and tell Fox and Mexico to go take a flying leap when they sit down there and give pronouncements of how bad we are because we actually want control of our borders. They, on the other hand, have troops on their own southern border trying to keep illegals from coming into their country. I hope they're successful in doing that, because those folks are just wanting to come up thru Mexico and cross over into our country. Heaven help us.

This is only the opening pea-shooter salvos of a Second Front that's going to open up on this country.
Watch for idealistic and seasoned terrorist volunteers from all over South America to come up to Mexico to nip at our southern flank.
Arms will be provided by well-heeled global enemies of ours. The artillery shells will start lobbing over and guerilla raids will commence. It will be the same kind of unconventional war where the enemy hits and evaporates.
All this has little to do with Mexico itself except as a staging area like Syria.
Think I'm nuts? Freepmail me in 6 months.

But the trend of attacks on Border Patrol agents is happening across the entire border, he said. Is cheap labor so important to the Washington slave labor lobby that they're willing to sacrifice Americans to meet their quotas? Sickening.
Any politician voting in favor of continuation of the illegal alien border mess should be thrown out on his/her butt in the coming elections.

the Border Patrol is taking control of areas that have been historically used by criminal gangs Historically? There should never be an "historically". In other words, they're finally admitting what has been known all along; the BP knows where the bad guys are, they're just staying a safe distance away and not interfering. Why are they just now considering looking into these areas? No, it's not because of more manpower, it's because it's gotten so out of control the public is watching closer.
