Neither Ginsberg nor Stevens will voluntarily make a move until after the mid-term election and, if we win again, not until after 2008. The pressuree on them to stay the course is enormous.

If the next one were Janice Rogers Brown, it would tie the left into one heck of a pretzel. A black woman who came from poverty. I'd *LOVE* it! TeeHeeHee

You would think, wouldn't you, that he would have noticed that Dukakis wasn't even invited to the convention. Dukakis, Gore and Kerry belong to the exclusive club of the excluded. Even Richard Nixon had more respect.

I know. I almost feel sorry for Kerry. ..He reminds me of one of those people that has that disease that when you look in the mirror and are skinny , your perception is off somehow ,and you see somebody really fat. Its a sickness , and I forget the name of it!He can't see himself or can't face the truth that he lost the election! Someone has convinced Lurch that he didn't actually lose in 2004!(Maybe his doe doe daughters) It was'' stolen'' from him, or the diebolt machines were ''fixed'' by Karl Rove or whatever. He's been reading DU too much who knows?......But in any case the mans deluding himself and needs to wake up fast, cause the RATS are never, ever ,going to give him another chance at it, and thats what this whole fake filibuster stunt is all about. IMO!

"Obama, a former president of the Harvard Law Review, said Alito’s record is too rigid.

“When he’s not forced to follow Supreme Court precedent, he consistently sides in favor of the more powerful party,” the senator said."

Strange that a black senator would imply that a USSC justice should adhere to "Supreme Court precedent." How about Dredd Scott, Mr. Obama?

Harvard Law Review must not be all that rigorous if someone with this degree of flawed thinking can be president of it.

They know they're going to lose - they're just pandering to their fringe base.

Hilary in '08 (she's in favor of a filibuster...)

or all 7 of the Pubs in the group vote for the constitutional option. No problem.

Right. Susan Collins has not even decided if she is going to vote for Alito. Snowe just reluctantly announced her support. You expect them to support the constitutional option? And those are just two of the problems.

Obama has the potential to be a real problem for conservatives.

He is smart enough to stake out a position which satisfies his base while avoiding a filibuster the RATs will lose.

I wonder if he could unite the looney left of the RATs with the mainstream?

Yep, it is a lot of free campaign advertising to the far left. The stupid thing is they don't have to do any work to get the far left to vote for them AND that will hurt them rather than help.

"Am I the only who thinks it funny they want to filibuster and there has barely been a Democrat on the Senate floor this week during the time allotted to discuss and debate this nomination?"

Sen. Sessions is at the head of the line.
You may join us. ;o)

" Sen. Sessions is at the head of the line."

A great man from a great state.

Mr. Sessions was **voted down** by the (then Democratically-controlled) Senate when he was appointed to be a federal judge.

The great state of Alabama showed its disapproval by voting out one of our then Democratic Party Senators and voting in Mr. Sessions; hence: Senator Sessions.

So it is no accident that Senator Sessions sits today on the committee that once voted him down.

And it is no accident that he takes a keen interest in the judicial stunts that Democrats keep attempting to pull.

It is also worth mentioning that **other** states may very well follow suit...punishing Democrats for their obstructionism by voting Democrats out and Republicans in.

Yessir!
Sen. Sessions is a great man from a great state!

"The great state of Alabama showed its disapproval by voting out one of our then Democratic Party Senators and voting in Mr. Sessions; hence: Senator Sessions."

Was that Howell Heflin?
I tried googling it, but couldn't find it.
So, I am going from memory.
Please, correct me if I am wrong.
Whatever his name, I remember his face.

No siree...it's no accident that Sen. Sessions is a Senator.
And, if I may say so...y'all done good!

I'm not fron the great state of Alabama, but I was born and raised just over the state line...
in Missippy. ;o)

"It is also worth mentioning that **other** states may very well follow suit...punishing Democrats for their obstructionism by voting Democrats out and Republicans in."

Do tell?
That is well worth a "mention".
