So, does this make 57 votes for Alito?

Let's hope that all of the RINOs come to their senses.

Olympia Snowe, was still weighing the nomination

I imagine Judge Alito is getting tired of standing on her bathroom scale.

The RAT DUmmies were hoping they could sway Collins with blast faxes. Stick a fork in it RATS. Alito is confirmed.

Chaffee, Collins and Snowe are becoming more and more irrelevant.

If we could get a 2-4 more Republican seats in the Senate, those three would be left with no power.

From the story:

"PORTLAND, Maine --Sen. Susan Collins announced Thursday that she will vote in favor of the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to be the next justice of the U.S. Supreme Court."

This is not new news. Collins votes has been long counted. To my knowledge, Snowe has still not announced.

I still think it's laughable that the NE coast thinks they run this country.

I'm even more surprised by this than by HilLIARy's opposing Alito.

I cannot accept that Olympia Snowe thinks that if she votes in favour of Alito she would lose support in Maine. I think that she just has a mental problem.

I have a good idea. What if 2-3 conservatives vote against closure, forcing a filibuster. Frist then brings the constitutional option up, and we end this silliness once and for all. BTW, I agree that 2-3 more Republican Senators make the Rinos, even from my state, Maine, irrelevent.

Holy Cripe!!! Ya gotta be kiddin me!!! A northeastern Republican is actually going to actually vote to publically support the nominee of a Republican President for the Supreme Court of the United States Of America? Unfricken believable!!! This must set some kind of astounding historical, or maybe even a hysterical precedent!!! (or is it an Arlen Sepectator "super-precedent," or even a "super-duper-precedent," or some such trivial pursuit-precedent?)

The vote will be on Tuesday morning, and there's every reason to be optomistic about it.

That leaves only Chaffee and Snowe on the GOP side, right?

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) Announced Decision To Support Alito Nomination

It's a travesty that such an announcement by a "Republican" should warrant a headline.

Chaffee is a traitorous loser, who only refrained from taking the Jim Jefford route because he saw what happened to Jefford after his 15 minutes were up.

Collins and Snowe are not all that bad. As a rule, they vote with the party when the party really needs their vote, and they vote "no" to please their constituents when the party can do without their vote.

That's what a RINO is supposed to do. We don't need their votes with Alito, but it will be darned nice to have them, because it will help undermine the increasingly feeble liberal pretence that Alito is some sort of extremist kook.

Just a question for you. Why, when you posted the story, did you choose to snip the OPENING SENTENCE which read:

"PORTLAND, Maine --Sen. Susan Collins announced Thursday that she will vote in favor of the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to be the next justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

She isn't a Republican...really. She's a RINO. Wonder what made her decide to support Alito and go against her close buds...the dems?
