Correction: He seeks to make it more difficult to appoint judges that will respect the Constitution, rather then have judges appointed that will strike down his UNconstitutional legislation.
The rats would NEVER exploit those things openly - - they would use their operatives to stir things up among conservatives by descending on places like Free Republic, Rush, etc. You know the routine: "I am a lifelong conservative Republican, but....."
The democRATS are complaining??? I'm shocked. NOT!!
With all the Dim lawyers in the Senate they should be able to come to a convolution one way or the other. "He may...is just Dim propaganda and smearing. They know full well he isn't breaking the law.
"In his speech, the president needs to tell the American people what he is going to do to end the culture of corruption and lay out solutions that will make America stronger," said Harry Reid of Nevada, the Senate Democratic leader.
If President Bush wanted any advice from this little man he would ask for it. Until then Senator Reid, just shutup. Remember the last advice you gave him? Nominate Harriett Miers for the Supreme Court. He took your advice on that and got his behind raked over the coals from his own base. Doubt President Bush will take your advice again.
I don't recall Giuliani being real strident about his liberal social positions - - more like, "Okay. I'm running for Mayor of friggin' New York City - - so what're my positions on these idiotic issues I never gave three seconds thought about?" I mean, he'll have to stick to those positions he originally staked out for political purposes, but I doubt he'll jump up and down about any of it or have any "litmus test" for abortion, etc.
The only thing I would worry about is...that Bush has already come out in favor of a constitutional amendment making marriage between one man and one woman...
And, if we don't get it done before he leaves office...could we count on Guilini to pick up the fight until it is accomplished??
THAT is where his liberal social leanings could present a problem for him.
Having said that...if the alternative is McCain, I doubt that his liberal social views would hurt him.
I will never vote for McCain. Period.
I have always said that the worst possible damage that the GOP can do to itself (and the nation) is inflicted by "moving to the center" (a little bit of cancer, the theory goes, is okay). I will never again vote for my Congressman, Mike Fitzpatrick. As with his predecessor, Jim Greenwood, I voted for him the first time and then discovered what he was.
Good....I think we should start a "NOMcCain" website...LOL
Was there ever a time when a president gave the State of the Union in front of a non-partisan Congress?
At the moment???
Where has this dude been since the election in 2000 ??
I feel the same way....I am no where close to knowing who I would vote FOR....but, against...yeah, McCain is on the list.
Alito - the public is on the President's side.
Abramhoff - the public couldn't care less, and those that think about it, think it affects both parties.
You hit it out of the park, Seeker.
Justice Alito would get a front row seat during Dubya's speech. If you heard popping sounds, that'll be leftist heads exploding...
