Gore, climate hero, completes seduction of Hollywood

Al Gore, the failed Democrat presidential candidate better known for his wooden demeanour than showbiz appeal, is revelling in an unlikely new incarnation as a Hollywood leading man.
His high-profile appearance at the trendy Sundance Film Festival in Utah last week renewed speculation that he could be persuaded to run for the White House, challenging Senator Hillary Clinton. Opinion-poll figures showing less support for his former boss's wife than expected fuelled the rumours.
Mr Gore, who narrowly lost the 2000 presidential race to George W Bush, has publicly insisted that he is not planning another bid. But some Democrats see him as a stronger contender in 2008 than Sen Clinton, who was first lady while he was vice-president.
Mr Gore and his wife Tipper spent several days rubbing shoulders with stars and attending parties at Robert Redford's prestigious Sundance gathering, ahead of the premiere of An Inconvenient Truth.
The documentary, which stars the former vice-president as he tries to alert the world to global warming, received a standing ovation and is bolstering his liberal, fund-raising credentials.
Lawrence Bender, a producer whose credits include Pulp Fiction, and Jeffrey Skoll, the billionaire co-founder of the online auction site eBay, were among those who persuaded Mr Gore to make the film.
The morning after the premiere, Mr Gore told one audience: "I used to be the next president of the United States." After the laughter subsided, he added: "I don't find that to be very funny. I'm a recovering politician."
In the film, Mr Gore, 57, depicted as a man criss-crossing the country to deliver impassioned climate-change speeches, seems to have shed his old stiffness as he jokes about his weaknesses.
He has been building support in the entertainment industry since launching Current TV, a San Francisco-based cable channel, last year. He has also been reinforcing his standing with the party faithful; criticising the White House's handling of Iraq and launching an attack on their wiretap programme.
Jennifer Palmieri, a former Clinton aide, told the Sunday Telegraph: "The party's donor community and grassroots are very high on Al Gore right now."
He is such a has been. He's like George McGovern, only he's the only person in America who doesn't realize it.
I feel dirty that he's here in Utah.
Al Gore, superhero!
Did she say that everyone was getting "high" on Al?
He is an ACTOR, now??
The title of Bender's previous movie is applicable here.
Not having seen the film (of course) I would still be willing to bet Al Gore's version of Global Warming is about as truthful as the story of him inventing the internet. And his remark about being the "next President of the US" shows him still in denial.
Pinch me, I'm dreaming.
Can't wait for the Gore, Hitlery, and Lurch debates during the democratic primaries.
He is an ACTOR, now??""
In my mind, he ALWAYS was an "actor".... A BAD ACTOR, in every way you can describe...
Persuade him lefties! Please persuade him!
Larry, Moe, and Curly battle for the primaries.
Oh please, algore Mrs. Clinton and Johnfreakin kerry please run for president on the democrat ticket in 08. I can't wait to see you slit each others throats. Maybe Add in there The right reverend Al and it would be laughs a minute.
"He is an ACTOR, now??"
He's trying to be Ronald Reagan- going cross country making speeches ecept he doing it a$$ backwards.(as usual)
It's first acting THEN politics.
Altoast2000 is still using that stale ol' line? Good thing he was never promoted...
Clinton-Gore in 2008. That's the ticket.
Al Gore...Climate Hero? "Yes I Al Gore had a hand in inventing climate"
EEEEEWWWWWWWW - "Gore" and "Seduction" in the same sentence!!!!!!!
Global warming.
Please, please, let Al run and win the nomination. Every day of the campaign would be like Christmas.
