The stepfather of a 10-year-old girl was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor after she became pregnant, police said.
William Edward Ronca, 26, was being held Friday at the Abbeville County jail.
The girl's mother told The (Greenwood) Index-Journal that she had no idea her daughter was pregnant.
A school guidance counselor told the mother the girl was acting withdrawn and not participating at school. The girl was later taken to Abbeville County Memorial Hospital, where it was discovered she was about seven to eight months pregnant.
Warrants said Ronca had been having sex with the girl for about a year, and told her not to tell anyone.
Ronca has a child with the girl's mother, according to police reports. The couple is getting a divorce.
Ronca was arrested Tuesday.

The l0-year old girl's mother had no idea that her daughter was pregnant. Dear God, please save our children from such mothers and step-fathers.
Mom and 12yr old daughter pregnant by same guy.Class act/sarc.And we(taxpayers)supported the kids as well.Our welfare and various assistance programs(fed,state,local) are a mess.It encourages people to stay on the dole.

Yes, and we are still paying because Mom/Grandma and Sister/Mom became legal once their children were born here in the States. Both of them went on to have a few more children. This dynamic duo knew right down the last thin dime exactly how much money and benefits they were able collect each month.
The best part of the story (at least my favorite part), came when Mom/Grandma and Sister/Mom got tired of the breeding stud and wanted him out of the house. Mom/Grandma called the police and she accused him of statutory rape of Sister/Mom even though it was a couple of years after the fact. Daddy went to jail and the whole thing made the newspaper. There is some kind of justice there I am sure, but all of them should have gone to jail for it to be complete.
My little grandson just turned 10 years old and I can't help but compare this 10 year old child to him. There is nothing sexy or alluring about a 9 or 10 year old child, but then again that is not a prerequisite for child molesters. It's about power and self gratification.
regardless of therapy and time passing and all that -- will never be trustworthy around a child again and should be completley removed from society because of that.
Child molesters have the highest recidivsm of any other crime known to man. This is a known, published, well-documented fact. They cannot be rehabilitated, yet in our brave new world, the psychiatric industry is hell bent on feeling good about itself and giving little Johnny Child Molester another chance, study him some more, write another article for some medical journal. All that happens is another child's life is in ruins. These people are predators just as animals in the wild are predators. Even a domesticated dog still has predatory instincts because it is innate in them. No amount of dog training or animal psychology can make Fido not be a predator.
Until the judical system and the psychiatrists can look at these "people" as the animals they are, they will continue to prey on our children with a slap on the hand here and there.
My only addition to what you've written is that I'd also include felines/cats in the list of predators who are by nature so.

Yes, I noticed that as have many others. The criticism appears to attempt to defend the offender, defend the judge's inappropriate leniancy about the offender, and not condemn the offense and punish the offender and moreso important, protect society from the offender's anticipated ongoing offenses.
This to my veiw reflects the extreme leftwing. I could go on but I do not have the energy today to discuss this deplorable element among humanity...but liberalism indulges these problems if not encourages them to persist.
The judge sounds far too protective and sympathetic with this sexual predator for my comfort level; he's expected to represent society's interests in evaluating and assigning penalty and it looks like the judge perceives society as meaning "sexual predator who I have sympathy for." He's not representing society in this case (and how many others), he's representing his own bias.
"All of them should have gone to jail...."I agree.We have illegals comming here strictly to have a child(anchor baby)and begin receiving benefits.I suspect at some point our(imo very generous)assistance programs(esp in large metro areas)will simply implode.

I completely agree. An adult woman in the same household as a male who was/is abusing a child is not being truthful when they allege that they "don't have any idea" or "didn't know it was going on." The only way to NOT know that is if someone's drugged into a stupor and is nonobservant and isolated in a structure from the rest of the family.
Any woman with even a moderate degree of interaction with a child, any/all children, is aware that this is occuring by a number of indicators, and particularly just aware by being in the same home...particularly when it's habitual abuse.
I consider women in these situations to be culpable. I realize they have a tough situation but not removing any child from that situation immediately indicates culpability. And dementia. Certainly ulterior motive -- and "self preservation" is not acceptable excuse in my view.
