Great - so then do you think Teddy can still be charged? I know for sure it was manslaughter by gross negligence, but do you think there is anyway to even bring stronger charges against him?
When I think about how the DemocRats (Reid, Pelosi, Leahy, Shumer, etc.) have gone after Libby, Rove, and the President and taken their time away from work they need to be doing...I think these others should be dogged too! Kennedy for sure did something wrong that we know of!

Great - so then do you think Teddy can still be charged? He could still be charged, yes. He will not be, however. Massachusetts is a state that, even knowing he was probably guilty of manslaughter (at minimum -- that can't be emphasized enough), still returned him to the U.S. Senate time and again over 36 years.
In other words, by their votes, the people of Massachusetts dropped any potential charges.

"Charlie Manson and his band of killers, to name a few right off the top of my head."Charlie and his band of idiots had long records before the Tate-LaBianca murders. Sirhan was clean as a whistle.

I would SOOOO LOVE to see one of the cable networks do a documentary on Chappaquiddick. How many investigative stories have we seen about JFK's death. Every angle has been disected - conspiracy or not a conspiracy? It is time for Mary Jo to have her hour in the limelight.
To: skinkinthegrass
Good, I'm looking forward to it. Had ordered it the other day from another dealer but they had sold their copy the previous day! So I found another copy. There are many used ones out there, via amazon.
I had ordered another one about him too, should be here soon, called Teddy Bare, the Last of the Kennedy Clan, by Rust.
Someone around here recommended it a few days ago.
These should be interesting!

The disasters of Kennedy's life will probably not, alas, drive him out of the Senate from Massachusetts. But ready use of his defects can, little by little, defang him as a "national spokesman." He is a buffoon in truth, and the more facts we hit him with, the more others will see him as a buffoon.

A and E did a pretty decent treatment of Chappaquidick a few years ago. They probably replay it sometimes, though I haven't noticed it lately. I seem to recall it was pretty critical of TK, but maybe someone else remembers it better.

For those who are interested, here is a source for the full text of Kennedy's shameless 1969 Chappaquiddick address to the people of Massachusetts. The page includes an audio link: Click hereAlthough this "fireside chat" saved Kennedy's senate career among his Kennedy-besotted home voters, it killed his presidential aspirations forever.

A and E did a pretty decent treatment of Chappaquidick a few years ago.Did the (25th?) anniversary of Chap coincide with the death of JFK jr? I seem to recall that the A&E show was on a few days before the plane went down. After that happened, no othe network would put on a show they may have had ready.

Per Senitorial Privledge (if I remember correctly), Teddy tried to get a lawyer cousin of him to take some of the fall? I do remember that the cousin expressed his great disgust and anger at cousin-teddy, telling him that EVEN Kennedys don't crap in their own backyard.

Manson was given the death penalty. When the death penalty was temporarily dropped, he won the lottery, so to speak.

Isn't that interesting? Actually it was the 30th anniversary, but close enough to the actual dates. Well, maybe in a few more years the old media will "let" us see something on Chappaquidick again.
Chappaquidick -- July 18, 1969.
JFK, Jr. plane crash -- July 16, 1999.
To: bannie
I remember that too, it was Joe Gargan IIRC.
