Clinton to support Alito filibuster Says she’ll join Sen. Kerry in blocking Alito’s nomination, putting her at odds with top Democrats

BY GLENN THRUSH WASHINGTON BUREAU

January 27, 2006, 9:41 PM EST

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Friday announced she'll join potential 2008 presidential rival John Kerry in voting to filibuster against Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, just as top Democratic leaders predicted the effort is likely doomed.

With three Democratic senators pledging support for Alito, the New Jersey conservative seems virtually assured of being confirmed by the full Senate Monday or Tuesday, party leaders predicted Friday. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters in Washington that "everyone knows" Senate Democrats couldn't muster the 40 votes needed to support a last-ditch filibuster.

Good lord, she managed to get it ALL in there, didn't she?

How long did she ramble on? Did she finally hang up, or did he pull the plug? (I would have after the drug thing.)

I have felt that way for a long time...but when Mark got so angry tonight about McCain going to that forum in Davos...and STILL accusing the military of torture..

He just does NOT have a clue how he is coming across...or, more likely, doesn't care....which should be the kiss of death to his POTUS candidacy..

Of course she should have; I knew the minute she called LKL she had made a HUGE mistake.

But I can see how she was thinking -- after all, she IS Oprah and nobody screws with her, right? :-)

This is advantageous. Clinton isn't just pandering to her base, she's allowed her arrogance to govern her leadership abilities. She obviously thought her stance would rally other Democratic Senators to join her, and the opposite is taking place.

If she ever were a serious candidate for president, a question must be asked. If she could not lead her own party, how could she possibly work with a hostile Congress comprised of Republicans and a sizable number of Democrats to lead an entire nation?

If I live to be 100, I'll never understand why they hate this good, decent man so much.

But perhaps I've answered my own question.

Talk about POWER...that is a woman with power...enough that when she turns down the White House when they call...it doesn't affect her career at all..

It is FUN watching Shrillary dropping acid with the Moveon Birkenstockers in her tattered jeans, then scrambling over to the DLC in her business fatsuit to screech about doubling the military in Iraq.

Little does she know that the security cameras, in the form of the blogosphere, are chronicling her every waddle and beaming it to countless popcorn-munching conservatives.

Americans are NOT happy when judges are not given up/down votes..and are smeared in the process.

Add to that - and when the politicos are so OBVIOUSLY obstructionist. That is indeed what got Lil' Tommy Das-hole voted out of office.

Bush has been pitting Dems against themselves for years...

Funny, some tried to warn the Washington Democrat elite about him, but in their arrogance they ignored the warnings.

And this is a perfect example of Dems playing politics instead of basing their opinions on what is best for this nation.

I was just thinking about that when I was watching the Panel on Brit's show; it's not about principle with them; it's about VOTES. Juan even said that now Kerry can say "I stood up against Alito," even though it's a lost cause.

I'll be damned if I'd be in a party that wanted America to lose a war, or hoped the economy would tank, or some other disaster would hit the country, or REQUIRED me to smear a good man just so I could get their votes and stay in power.

So do you suppose Soros put the squeeze on Bubba Clinton in Davos (along with Kerry) and Bubba called her to fillibuster because Soros is depositing a few more million into their Swiss account?

That would get my vote. And yes, I think BillyBubba is a big part of this "decision" by Hillary on the move to the left. She doesn't make these kinds of decisions without consulting him.
