Clinton to support Alito filibuster Says shell join Sen. Kerry in blocking Alitos nomination, putting her at odds with top Democrats

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Friday announced she'll join potential 2008 presidential rival John Kerry in voting to filibuster against Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, just as top Democratic leaders predicted the effort is likely doomed.
With three Democratic senators pledging support for Alito, the New Jersey conservative seems virtually assured of being confirmed by the full Senate Monday or Tuesday, party leaders predicted Friday. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters in Washington that "everyone knows" Senate Democrats couldn't muster the 40 votes needed to support a last-ditch filibuster.

Biden...yes...
BTW...I just saw the clip of Kerry's speech on the Senate floor again...and I didn't realize what a "swipe" Kerry took at the Judiciary Committee...by saying that "America didn't get enough out of the hearings"...
LOL...Kennedy is not going to be happy...
I honestly don't think Clinton can "squeeze" her about anything.
And is he over there, too?
I wonder if Harry isn't at least a little concerned about holding his seat in Nevada? I'd be supprised if all those people moving their businesses and employees to Nevada are all Union Democrats -- they are fleeing a democratic state that is sucking the blood out of them and are more likely to vote R than D....
You know what, I'm going to agree with you.
I don't think he wants to be First Lady.
Alas...I admit you are right...I got carried away.
Maybe I should reword it to say "dem Senators that SHOULD be putting the brakes on their future ambitions"
sigh
I think we are going to see so much illegal voting on the dem side in '08 it will make our heads spin... will make Washington State look tame by comparison.
Howlin, did you read Kennedy's blog about this on the Daily Kos?
This is just so typical; they honestly believe that if they don't get their way, "America didn't get enough..."
just like Hillarys thinking and saying that the minority party doesn't have any POWER. Well, duh!
I think that maybe they are beginning to realize that they are really at the end of their ropes, as we've been saying for a long time, and this is their last desperate gasp for some semblance of power.
I mean, they've thrown everything they can at Bush and he's still standing.
And now we have George Stephie saying "What if Bush has been right."
They must be dying.
yup , Molly will be happy 'bout this [fake] turn
... btw , who is Molly's stylist , Jose Feliciano ????
What do you make of Ed Cox dropping out against her already? Does she still have a friend at the IRS? How can she run for the Senate and never take an interview? She makes speeches but all carefully crafted so she doesn't have to answer any questions.
Do you want to know what I have been fearing...and I know it isn't as imminent as the danger we face from these dems...
But, "gaming the system" is the game plan in the Islamofascist play book...besides all of the "fun and games" of suicide bombings and beheadings...
Their ultimate goal for the United States is to use our political system against us...but moving up the ladder into more and more powerful positions...
NOW..when you have Cindy Sheehan calling Feinstein out..and daring her to filibuster...she becomes a tool of them...because she is willing to embrace Chavez and other dictator/tyrant America haters..
Clinton, Soros, I don't know if Peter Lewis is there, but expect he is... I suspect Soros got to Kerry and maybe Clinton, too... he is not wanting the Supreme Court to go more conservative anymore than he wants GOP to stay in power the end of this year.
Yup, sailing against the wind LOL
Off topic (sort of)...but, did you hear Mark Levin tonight?
He is the first person that FINALLY said something that I have been thinking....that McCain not only stinks as a Senator and POTUS candidate because of all of the torture, campaign finance, blah, blah, blah...
BUT, he is passing himself off as a "hawk" and tough on national security...but, he was over at that DAVOS thing giving interviews STILL accusing American military of torturing the terrorists in Gitmo....
Which, Mark said, means that he ISN'T for national security..because if he had his way...these guys would have walked a long time ago...and we know that many of the ones that HAVE been released have gone back to fight and kill our military again.
So....you can add McCain to your list of "powerful" politicians to be afraid of..
Soros seems to think he's found a way...in Davos he's predicting $265 a barrel oil and the demise of our economy (duh) as a result.
Great post, Howlin (#61).
I think what he saw in the Palestinan elections sobered Biden a little.... even Jimmy Carter was thrown by the outcome.
yup , in sailing the term is "beating" ,
... if the wind is stiff and the waves are big enough,
... you end up "beating your brains out" ,
... I'm pretty sure that is where the phrase originated
McCain was in Davos, too??? Is HE going to filibuster? Wouldn't suprise me with his Soros connection(s)... and being there with Kerry -- two moonies.
