Earlier in the month, UK newspaper The Daily Mirror claimed Thandie Newton had screentested for a Bond girl role for the forthcoming film Casino Royale.
Several sources later confirmed that Newton had been tested opposite Daniel Craig, the new James Bond 007.
Today, rival newspaper The Sun claims she has been cast as Vesper Lynd in the movie, which is scheduled to open in theatres November 17th 2006.
According to the report, "The Sun can reveal [Thandie Newton] is the new Bond babe. She will star opposite Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, James Bonds 21st big screen venture. Thandie, 33, a mum of two, was born in Zambia 10 years after the first Bond film was made in 1962."
It continues, "Her mother is a princess but the family emigrated to Cornwall when the girl who went on to star in Mission Impossible II was just five. Thandie its pronounced Tandy is now prepared for the glare of the spotlight that goes with being part of the Bond industry."
Newton recently starred in "Crash" - which was penned by "Casino Royale" screenwriter Paul Haggis.
Those were Bond WOMEN.
These do not count as Bond Women, they are Bond Gyrls. They don't even induce a purient thought. The only good they do is make us remember how SUPERIOR the prior LADIES were to the current forgetable bimbos.
if that is true and confirmable, then the bond franchies dies.
There is ZERO marketability for a homosexual bond.
I still say he looks like a Russian ballet dancer.
Thats enough evidence for me!
I don't know. Rose Byrne has been rumored as the front runner.
For sure he don't like guns!
Methinks the Bond films have gone politically correct. Yuck.
I don't understand. Are you making a comparison?
Contradiction in terms.
If yer gonna do something, do it right.

I figured it out. Sometimes I can be very dense.
I'm not impressed. Yes she's cute, but not up to the adolescent wet-dream standards of the early Bond Women
Info about Daniel Craig...bless his heart.

CERTIFIED DO-ABLE
NO BAGS REQUIRED!!!!!
I read all the Bond Books while in High School or a few years later. I loved the first three or four movies, then they began a slide to just plain garbage. Stylish garbage but garbage nonetheless.
