PELOSI DEFINES PEOPLE OF FAITH
At the National Press Club yesterday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi commented on President Bushs upcoming State of the Union address. In doing so, she touched on the subject of values and religion. Referring to Democrats, she said that the best way for us to speak to people of faith is in terms of the work we do; in terms of the budget, for example. The budget is a document thats supposed to be a statement of our national values. By people of faith, Pelosi meant people like the 114 protesters who were arrested last month for blocking the entrance to the Capitol. We had the people of faith working against this budget. They had events in the Capitol, they were arrested on the steps of the Cannon Building .
Catholic League president Bill Donohue saw this is illuminating:
Ask anyone leaving church on Sunday what public policy issues motivate people of faith and the likely answer will be such things as abortion, same-sex marriage, assisted suicide, drugs, illegitimacy, etc. Ask Nancy Pelosi and she says the federal budget.
Worse than her ignorance is her disdain for the faithful. For example, she likes to call those who are pro-life anti-choice. She not only objected to the Justice Sunday event that took place last April in Louisville, she said the rally (which included several prominent people of faith, myself included) was marked by assaults on the courts. When her party lost the 2004 presidential election, she arrogantly said, As a devout Catholic, I observe with great regret the intervention of some Catholic bishops who joined evangelical leaders in the political arena. In other words, all these religious leaders not only fail to meet her qualifications as the people of faith (as she likes to call them), they are a threat to democracy.
According to Democratic strategist Paul Begala, on the night of the presidential election, former President Bill Clinton told him, you cant ignore those social, cultural values voters. He was right. Moreover, Clinton knows the difference between a budget and a bible.
...and they wonder why Republicans are the party of religion and traditional values?
If "San Fran Nan" is a "devout Catholic," I'm the Wizard of Oz.
In her mind, Faith = Budget, and therefore Faith = Money
She *IS* a person of great faith.
Great faith in big brother and the nanny state, that is.
Notice he said "those voters," not "us voters." It's "us vs. them" in the thinking of the Democrats. "They" are willing to take "our" votes, but "they" are definitely not aligned with "us."
And dogma = abortion.
I assume this means that our national budget is getting smaller as our traditional values are whittled away.

Right Rex! Someone who is truly devout has a modicum of spiritual maturity and would never call themselves 'devout'.
And he used his Bible as a prop.
As a devout Catholic, I observe with great regret the intervention of some Catholic bishops who joined evangelical leaders in the political arena.
Dear Sen Pelosi:
What then is your view of the most bodacious and august reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton poking into the realm of politics? Hmmmmm?
He smashes lefties like Pelosi with ease.
I know people who faithfully brush their teeth three times a day. That must be who she is referring to.
I choked on that one, too! The "people of faith" that I know are all opposed to murdering the unborn.
You just can not make this stuff up. Hope she gets the party nomination for '08.
Great example of the difference between secular libs(Pelosi is one, I don't care what she claims)and conservatives.
The libs feel the highest authority is man made law. Conservatives respect man made law but know that there is a higher law and this is where morals and values come in.
only in regard to their value as a prop.
"As a devout Catholic,"
I about spewed my coffee on the screen with that statement.
