LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Conservative commentator Ann Coulter, speaking at a traditionally black college, joked that Justice John Paul Stevens should be poisoned.
Coulter had told the Philander Smith College audience Thursday that more conservative justices were needed on the Supreme Court to change the current law on abortion. Stevens is one of the court's most liberal members.
"We need somebody to put rat poisoning in Justice Stevens' creme brulee," Coulter said. "That's just a joke, for you in the media."
Coulter has made a career of writing and lecturing on her strongly conservative views.
At one point during her address, which was part of a lecture series, some audience members booed when she cut off two questioners. "I'm not going to be lectured to," Coulter told one man in a raised voice.
She drew more boos when she said the crack cocaine problem "has pretty much gone away."

That's one of the most beautiful photos of Ann Coulter I've seen.
This on is also cool.
I admit that post was a bit pedantic, but this thread stirred up (in me) a little interest in the question of what is/is not 'appropriate' behavior. Ultimately, I think it's all completely trivial: Ms. Coulter got to entertain her fans and get some publicity, her critics got to spout off for their fans, and the rest of us got to feel amused, offended, indignant, superior, holier-than-thou, angry, happy, confused, or whatever other emotion we preferred. Everybody wins, and life goes on...
I missed the memo that formalized your appointment as spokesman for American Society.
Have a nice day.
![]() ![]() I like her politics, but geeze.... her neck looks like it belongs on E.T. in this picture |
I think a good bucket of water would do it for Ginsburg..."I'm melting!"
Come on, Ann. No joking about killing people. We don't need Moore-onic comments from our side.
Ann Coulter has been disappointing me lately. Her comments used to be as strong, without the tinge of hatefulness that I would expect out a leftist. This started around the Harriet Miers nomination. Anne was right, but way out of line.
True, but the media sure wouldn't be, as they will with this.
Spiteful humor is one of many domains liberals claim exclusive rights to. No one should ever be offended when they do it..."Don't be so touchy...it was just a joke." Let a conservative do the same, though, and suddenly their sense of humor is no where to be found.
It took ONE HUNDRED AND THREE to get a picture?!?!?!?!!!
There is simply no respect for the RULES anymore...
Just proves the old adage: you want something done, do it yourself!
I don't see where you get "megalomania" from anything I wrote, but, once again, you are free to hold any opinions you like.
Thanks for the good wishes; I am having a nice day, and I hope you are as well...
Thank you and Amen!
I have all of Coulter's books, so this latest turn is unappealing.
