Tunnel Found on Mexican Border
By John Pomfret Washington Post Staff Writer Friday, January 27, 2006; Page A03
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 26 -- U.S. and Mexican authorities have discovered an elaborate tunnel that stretches the length of eight football fields connecting Mexico and the United States and was apparently used for drug trafficking, authorities said Thursday.
The tunnel, unearthed Wednesday, runs from a warehouse in Tijuana and surfaces in the United States under an abandoned warehouse west of the Otay Mesa port of entry. Mexican authorities announced that they had seized about two tons of marijuana on the Mexican end, and experts said the passageway bore all the hallmarks of an operation by a major drug cartel.

Needs repeating.
please, let's build a giant wall along the US-Mexico border...too many jobs are being given to NONCITIZENS when the unemployment rate is very high
"Law enforcement cooperation between the United States and Mexico has not always been good." Did not see that comin'! Whew! Quite the revelation!
Why?
I completly agree Devane. That's why we need to compel them.

6 or 7 duplicate (mostly all spinning) posts of this same story today - amazing how each iteration waters down the "impact" or "outrage" over the tunnel. Tow of them don't even mention the dope that was found.
Money...
Time for a little gopher gasser.
"please, let's build a giant wall along the US-Mexico border...too many jobs are being given to NONCITIZENS when the unemployment rate is very high"
Ummmmm, the wall may be a good idea for several reasons but the unemployment rate isn't "very high". It's 4.9%
Gee, wouldn't it be such a pity if someone just somehow managed to misplace a large quantity of explosives somewhere in the middle of that tunnel, causing it to collapse?
The TUNNEL were TIME waits.
Probably a dozen holes. Our govt. is all for it!
Close the darn borers......
send all illegals home!
Anyone know why all the news (even Fox) is reporting the tunnel was between the border and SAN DIEGO??? Then, they say the tunnel was 1/2 mile long. That's impossible, cuz San Diego is approx. 20 miles from the border. The town on the border down there is San Ysidro (where all those people were held hostage and killed at McDonald's in the 80s). This article mentions Otay (O-ti) Mesa, which is closer to San Ysidro than San Diego.
Amen to THAT, my dear.
Uh... the middle of the tunnel is about under our border fence...
"Anyone know why all the news (even Fox) is reporting the tunnel was between the border and SAN DIEGO??? "
Easy - Because it's part of San Diego - County AND City
