AMAZING...
Bump!
You betray a massive ignorance of history Mikey if you are unaware that your uncles serving with allied forces during WWII were serving against the Croatian Ustashi/Nazi SS forces composed primarily of Roman Catholics...many of them RC priests in SS uniform. The primary duty of these courageous warriors was the wholesale torture and murder of Christian Serbs and Jews. So out of control, brutal and inhumane were they in their treatment of prisoners that even the German SS protested.
The Serbs fought a valient geurrilla resistance against Nazi forces during WWII, rescuing hundreds of downed allied flyers and smuggling them back to allied lines. And losing something like one half their adult male population in that conflict. They were rewarded for their loyalty and valor to the allied cause by being CONDEMNED by Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin to 50 years of slavery under the Croatian communist Marshall Tito. Following the collapse of the SU and eastern european communist regimes, They ELECTED Milosevic their head of state a position he held until the clinton war of islamofascist expansion in eastern europe.
Great post lion. I wrote a response to Mike (#25) before seeing yours.
Tens of thousands of Serb children were killed by various methods, some died slowly from poisoning with caustic soda. A few were fortunate to live and tell about their ordeal in the fascist puppet state of Croatia. Look at the Croat Ustasa on the left posing proudly with his 'trophy', a Serb,s head, and the Ustase on the right posing proudly with their 'trophy' -- a Serb priest's head. At the left below Ustase are sawing a Serb's head off and at the right Ustase are are preparing to cut off heads of Serbs to keep as 'trophies". In the photo at left bottom Ustase are chopping off a Serb's head with an axe, and the bottom right photo shows a Serb's corpse with its head 'looking' at it.
Excerpt:
U.S. officials learned in 1992 than Iran had opened a smuggling route to Bosnia with the assistance of Turkey, two years before a controversial decision by President Clinton to give Croatia a diplomatic "green light" for the shipments, national security adviser Anthony Lake said Friday. Bosnian government officials said that by 1993, arms or money for arms purchases also were being supplied through the Turkish pipeline by Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Brunei and Pakistan, and that other weapons shipments came from Hungary and Argentina.
U.S. officials knew of most of the arms shipments but took no action, despite Clinton's public support for a United Nations-sponsored arms embargo against Bosnia, Croatia, and the other nations of the former Yugoslavia. That policy marked a break with the Bush administration, which strongly protested when an Iranian plane flew into Zagreb in September 1992 with 4,000 assault weapons, prompting Croatia to impound the cargo.

That's why FreeRepublic is my favorite site, there's always somebody who knows something about anything. Thanks for the history lesson, even if it meant swallowing my Croation pride a bit. Perhaps that's why my grandfather's family left, sounds like it's never been a great place to live. God Bless America.
