She is laying the groundwork for something
We all knew for a while about the Dems having dirty hands in this Abramoff mess
Lauer & Russert just decided now to check into what Dean said ??
Normally they would ignore and not report on this kind of news
Personally I think the contributions Abramoff and his wife gave to Republicans is probably the only legitimate money that was donated. They personally did not contribute to Dems. Their personal contributions were relatively small (around $6,000 per), and in total only amount to just over $200,000. Not exactly the huge scandal as is being portrayed in the media
It is when you look at the Abramoff clients that you see the large sums donated, and possibly favors exchanged. Then and only then do you get into the millions of dollars. Both parties are guilty of receiving those contributions.
Dean is par for the course for the dimorats! He can't tell the truth, he will lie about the truth, and he will say that you are the one who lied. Same old stuff, and same old lies. I hope he stays at the head of the dimorat party, as he is really helping the American public see how they lie all of the time.
"Dean will be on with Chris Wallace on Foxnews Sunday this Sunday."
Chris announced that a little while ago on F&F. Steve D was great. He said (paraphrasing) that they've invited Dean to be on w Ken Mehlman of the FNC several times to have dueling soundbites and Mehlman's office said they're ready any time, but Dean has refused. That's not the first time I've heard that. Guess the Deanster is afraid that Ken might correct some of his lies and/or will get him off his 'talking points'. Hopefully, Chris will call him on his 'stories' and not let him spew his accusations w no rebuttal like Timmy R does (sometimes Chris does a good job on this and other times he's useless). My guess is that Brit will correct any of Dean's lies during the roundtable and slap down Juan if he tries to carry on the spin for Dean.
God bless Howard Dean, the best thing to happen to galvanize the GOP since Barry Goldwater.
I agree with Russert's take on this...
This old song about how Abramoff didnt give democrats any money...well as my brother likes to say..'That ole dog wont hunt'
Thats about as dishonest of a bending of the truth as I can imagine.
It makes no difference if Abramoff gave his personal contributions to democrats or not. The charge is related to lobbying efforts not personal campaign contributions and the democrats took PLENTY of lobbying money. The money might not be "Abramoff's money" BUt it his lobbying efforts and clients money and that's where the problem lay.
Ever since this came out I have thought it was another loser for the dem's politically. It seems even the liberal BLATENTLY BIASED new media cant quite stomach the claim that Democrats are blamless in this whole thing. This whole thing is going to be 'a tale told by an idiot, full of
sound and fury, signifying nothing.'
Tempest in a teapot. But by all means keep pushing it dems.
LOL. Great analogy, particularly in light of the article's Palmeiro reference.
Tim Russeret remains one of the few Democrats I can have any respect for.
Katie is after the CBS News Anchor position. She is a "shoe in," if it won't create a another firestorm for the dying main stream media. They want her propaganda skills, but they are fearfull of the blogger backlash. CBS wants a malignant liberal propaganda expert, but unfortunately for them, the bloggers have been exposing most of the big name rats. If Katie gets it, then CBS will take another big time dive.
The less political influence lobbyists have the more influence the old media has... Lobbyists are the old media's competiting voices.
For example, Hilarycare was defeated by lobbyist funded voice and activism in direct opposition to the old media. Abortion has been defeated by lobbyists around and in opposition to Katie Colon and her pals.
The more restrictions on political free speech for everyone but the "free press" is why Katie and her pals want lobbying reform. They have to get the Dummies on board and make it a bi-partisan attack on free speech. To do that, they have to do a "everybody does it" chant to make everyone guilty so there is no resistance to their "reform."
It reminded me of when I was little, anxiously sitting by the window waiting for my daddy to come home so that we could play catch. ;^)
Gee Katie, did you miss your hormone replacement therapy today?
This is just a guess from a conservative observer but I wonder if the Today show is not trying to hasten Dean's departure? They know that they (dimocrats) can not show their true colors but Dean does this with great enthusiasm and very little apparent regard for the consequence.
I agree, but I also believe that Russert isn't in with the "win at an cost" and "hate Bush" crowd and is completely willing to expose corruption even if it means losing.
It's not the money given that is the problem, to either side. So much money flows to politicians from so many sources and lobbying happens every day from so many groups that it is hard to keep track of. The only story/problem comes in if it can be proven if anybody changed a vote for this money. Until that is know this is such a non-story from what I can see.
Howard Dean is the gift that keeps on giving both literally and figuratively.
