"originally made in parliament during the debate"

US constitution, article I section 6 - "for any speech or debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other place."

James Madison was a wise man. He learned from a Frenchman, Montesquieu. The French have forgotten anything they ever knew about either.

Indeed - in the US that would be expressly unconstitutional. <P.

French logic appears to be diametrically opposed to US logic.

In the name of liberty they repress Free Speech in the worst possible way, the speech of their legislators.

In the name of freedom of religion they ban children and adults from using personal religious dress and symbols in school and government spaces.

The US has taken the exact opposite approach to these issues.

Have I said today -- thank God I am American.

The scariest part about this, from a strictly freedom of speech perspective, is that the offending words were uttered on the floor of their Parliament. If elected officials are not free to say whatever they like during open debate, that is a heavy blow to democracy itself.

That parliamentarian has a set. Others do as well. Look for the average man on the street over there to throw the Left out in the next major elections. Behold, the earliest signs of the coming 6th Republic.
