John Brown University says students must sign a community covenant, meant to encourage Christian living. The college says they knew about Michael Guinn`s sexual orientation when they accepted him to the school. The school says that`s not why he was dismissed. Instead, they say he didn`t follow a part of the covenant that says he won`t dress in drag. The school says another student alerted them of a website where Guinn`s posing in pictures dressed in drag.
Like John Brown University, there are seven other private schools in the state that can draw up their own rules.
At Harding University in Searcy, the school prides itself on incorporating Christian values in the classrooms and on campus.
Students there must sign a form stating they will refrain from alcohol and smoking, and they can not engage in sexual immorality, which includes homosexual behavior.
"It would certainly be frowned upon not only socially, but as we are a christian school, it would be frowned upon in the bible," said Harding Sophomore Corwin Brown.
Meanwhile, Hendrix College in Conway is not only a liberal arts college, but the word liberal takes on a different meaning.
The school does not have a prohibition on sexual activity, and there is a homosexual student group called Unity on campus.
You do mean "openly gay", don't you?
I had to check the title because its wording was just so unfortunate..
And sure enough, the writer over there is probably laughing themself silly right now.
This just in: Stuned beebers attack KARK4!
Opening gay is a hideous crime!
They stuned the writer and the editor.
Nick, How badly were you groaning about the title as you read it?
The kid is gay.
The school said they would admit him, knowing he is gay, just don't dress in drag.
He dressed in drag anyway.
The school kicked him out for breaking the rule about dressing in drag.
This is like me saying a school kicked me out for eating pizza, the school knew I ate pizza, and when I urinatd on the door outside, they expelled me.
I.E they didn't kick him for being gay, they kicked him out for wearing womens clothes after he signed an agreement not to.
Here's another: "makes them thing and can also be entertaining at the same time" from Ann Coulter Speaks at Philander Smith College
You know how those theatrical types can be...
It's a private Christian college. They expect their students to follow their behavior standards, following the school's Christian beliefs.
If the guy didn't like it, he should have chosen another college. It's no secret that's what you're signing up for if you go to school there. You don't go to a Bob Jones-like college and expect a Berkley-like experience.
LOL.
Yeah!
There was another article from KARK4 with a typo'd title.
Any exceptions for Halloween?
Homosexuality is a simple biological perversion as it mitigates against reproductive success and, therefore, survival; other than that, it's just a bit silly.
"Does anybody else think that homosexuality is a more serious abnormality than pedophilia."
Not to get on a pedestal here, but sexual sin is sexual sin. And quite frankly, if I had homosexual neighbors I'd rather they be pounding on each other than watching the little kids in the neighborhood.
You break the rules and you pay the piper.
Judging by their site, it looks like they're beyond stuned...
In the case of queer men they shove themselves in to something that is designed for waste then take that and put it in their mouths. That's just a bit gross.
