Group Disappointed In (Sen. Blanche) Lincoln No Vote On Alito
KARK4 ^ | 1/26/2006

Posted on 01/26/2006 7:26:44 PM PST by nickcarraway

The leader of an Arkansas group that supports the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court said Sen. Blanche Lincoln’s decision to not support the confirmation of President Bush’s nominee is a great disappointment and surprising.

Jerry Cox, director of the Family Council Action Committee, said her recent history indicated there was a good chance she would resist Democratic party pressure and support Alito.

“When many democrats didn’t support the appointment of (Arkansas) Judge Leon Holmes as a U.S. District Judge (for the eastern district of Arkansas) last year, Senator Lincoln fought hard for his confirmation,” Cox said. “And when many democrats didn’t vote to confirm Judge John Roberts to the Supreme Court, again, Senator Lincoln broke ranks and supported him. If she can support Holmes and Roberts, who share virtually identical judicial philosophies as Alito, then Alito seemed like a no-brainer.”

Cox added that Alito’s high polling numbers across the nation also makes Lincoln’s vote surprising.

“In nationwide polling, those who support Alito outnumber those who oppose him 2 to 1,” Cox said. “I have no doubt that those numbers are true for Arkansas as well, if not even more favorable to Alito. That makes Senator Lincoln’s ‘no’ vote even more surprising.”

Cox said he still believes there is a good chance that Senator Pryor will resist pressure from the Democratic Party leadership and vote to confirm Alito.

“Senator Pryor has also shown a willingness to stand against (Democratic) party pressure by supporting Holmes and Roberts,” Cox said. “Since Alito is every bit as qualified as those judges, I see no reason why Senator Pryor wouldn’t support his confirmation.”

When a Senator belongs to a party funded by single issue groups, they got to jump when told.

Anyone surprised at Lincoln's vote is a slack-jawed moron. I'm sorry to offend anyone, but I swear the reason that Northeastern liberals perpetuate among themselves the notion that Southerners are inbred idiots is that they keep falling for the same please of "trust us, we're conservative!" over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

Say what you want about how dumb New Yorkers are to have elected Hillary Clinton, but at least most of HER supporters WANTED a liberal. The damned morons in Arkansas, Florida, and Louisiana think they're going to get someone more conservative than Hillary. Wake up people! Hillary is Rush Limbaugh next to the likes of Sens. Nelson and Lincoln.

I wish we could elect 2 republicians as Senators here in Arkansas. But Arkansas is still under reconstruction. Our state Government and local governments are almost entirely controlled by Democrats. Now I will admit alot of these democrats are closet conservatives. Blanche nor Pryor are but they come across that way. The Arkansas Gazette a moderate Repub Paper endorced Blanche and tore down the Conservative Republician. Ridiculed the man terribly. The paper I would say is ole Rockerfeller type Conservative. The kind I dislike the most. They would jump in bed with anyone who made them a dollar.

GODDAMMIT! How STUPID do you have to be to buy that nonsense? Like hell they're closet conservatives. They're closet closet Marxist extremists. I didn't even finish posting my last comment about how stupid some southerners are to buy that BS and you come saying something like that.

It doesn't surprise me. She is beholden more to NARAL/NOW GANG than she is to the voters who elected her (which doesn't include me). Marc Pryor is no different.

Well you have to understand how the good ole boy network works in Arkansas. There are many yellow dog democrats. Most local races have all democrats running. They know they can not win with an R behind their name. But many are social conservatives and many economic conservatives. There are many people who vote Demo becuse their g-g-g-granddaddy did and by gosh if it was good enough for him then it is for me. Yea you are right they are dumb and do get played like a fiddle but if you want to get elected it is the only ticket in town, county and kinda state. Hell they think the Democrates are still fighting the Confederate war for their ancestors honor. I'm not kidding.

This is a lesson to the RNC, except they are too stupid to learn from it.

Allowing left-wing kooks to run unopposed, or virtually so, for Senate seats in red states, is a mistake.

Dorgan, Conrad, Baucus, Lincoln, Salazar, Landrieu, all are allowed to be extremists on the Hill and run like conservatives back home.

None would be in office today if their voters knew they would oppose the Justices that their voters sent President Bush to Washington to nominate - not a single one.

I'm sorry, but that really is just too stupid to let go by.

They are NOT conservative, not a single one.

Well, I appreciate your calm response to my cranial explosion. :^D. But seriously... don't you think the "good ol' boys" who run the demonrat party are far better at telling the closet conservatives from the closet closet liberals? I mean, their constituents might think they're still fighting the COnfederate war, but Janet Reno, Bill Clinton, Moon Landrieu, Howie Long, Eddie Edwards, Lyndon Johnson, etc... they know the enemy they're fighting is freedom, capitalism, Christianity and the USA. All the locals are simply their hand-picked puppets.

I mean, come on, did a single Arkansas Democrat side with the impeachment Congress? Support Bush in '00? Seriously, this whole Civil-War Democrat issue is about as transparent as the Islamofascists in the Middle East harping about Israel so no-one gets angry at them for their own abject poverty.
