I may be the only conservative on Free Republic who believes Clarence Thomas is a great S.C. Justice and who also believes that Anita Hill was telling the truth.

I'm surprised that this story is still believed. Short answer, both of them were telling half-truths. I can attest the Black community did not believe Anita Hill at the time, and any very small amount of investigation would show why (although the MSM would never do it and has never put the theory forward). Basically, look at Hill and Thomas' lives: Both came from humble beginnings, both conservative, both Republican. They then start to work together at the EEOC. Supposedly, they were the only two Black Republicans in the office at the time. She was in her late 20's, he was divorced and in his mid-30's. See where this is going? They very likely had an affair. But then at some point Thomas' mentor John Warner(R-VA), set him up with his neice(?), Virginia Lamp. Thomas, for whatever reasons, chose her to be his wife. Years later, as Thomas is about to be confirmed to the SCOTUS, Anita Hill sees him and probably thinks, "That should've been me next to him, instead of that ugly white bi***!" Thus the stage is set for drama. Most people I knew believed this is what happened, and to me it makes sense.

Which lead to the election campaign of, "The Year of the Vagina."

Vote for whoever has a vagina which gave us Patty "Osama the Philanthropist" Murray, Mary "Stole the Election" Landrieu, Carol Moseley "I love dictators" Braun, and Barbara "4 feet of shit" Mikulski.

Considering Clarence Thomas opposes state-sponsored racism and infanticide, that makes Thomas the true "champion of civil rights." That Thurgood Marshall got us half-way there on racial issues is irrelevant because he evidently wasn't concerned about civil rights for all, as evident by his support of racist affirmative action policies. And his abhorrent support of infanticide puts him in the same camp as Adolf Hitler and his ilk.

Sen. Ken Salazar, D-Colo., today called current U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas an "abomination" when compared with the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.

Senator Salazar, which decisions or opinions of his do you disagree with that would cause you to make such a strong comment? Can you tell us a single opinion of his you do not like? Can you even tell us about any opinion of his, period? A--hole.

Better an abomination than a Democrat A-hole.

If rational competency standards were enforced for our Country's leaders, as they are for the low end govt employees, the halls of Congress/Senate would be near empty due to competency-based mass firings.

Aren't the voters of Colorado capable of electing someone other than this card-carrying moron?

One doesn't waste one's time addressing his comments since that would appear to dignify them and suggest they're worthy of discussion. All that's left is just trying to decide how stupid Salazar is, in the original, low-IQ sense of the word.

It reminds me of the time, several years ago, when my sons and I went to Chilies restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated at a booth. We had just gotten our food (the fajitas are great when you get a good batch), when a couple and a little kid were seated at a booth right next to us. I glanced over, and had to take a double take. Was that who I thought it was? Then the man laughed, and that was the conformation, we are having lunch with Justice Clarence Thomas.

I had, for several years, had my oldest son watch Justice Thomas whenever he would make speeches on C-Span. I would explain to him that this was a good strong man. After a few years, my son started to inform me when Justice Thomas was on TV. His intelligence and down to earth demeanor always inspired us.

I leaned over to my son, as he was gobbling down his nachos and asked him if he recognized who was at the next table. His eyes grew wide and glassy, his face turned red and he said “its…its…its..” And I said “that’s right, isn’t it fun living in Fairfax Virginia?” My son didn’t eat much after that. Well we were almost finished, and the table was cleaned and we were waiting for the check. I knew that this was it, and I had to say something. I turned toward his table and said “Justice Thomas”. He looked over at me, with a look of surprise, and I then said “When are you going to convince your associates to actually read the Constitution, and enforce the 10th amendment?”. There was a second’s pause, where you get to reflect about what a fool you are potentially creating of yourself. And then it happened, Justice Thomas laughed, that big resounding laugh. I made Clarence Thomas laugh, how cool is that?

We talked for a few moments. For some reason the subject of C-Span came up. Justice Thomas related how he was watching C-Span that morning, and how this crabby woman called, and was complaining about how the government should be doing all of these things like health care and saving the environment, etcetera. After the woman was done with her tirade, the moderator of the show told the woman that she should call here congressperson and senators. The moderator then asked the woman who her representatives are. And the woman did not know! We all had a good laugh over this.

About that time, their food came, so we shook hands, and bid them goodbye. I told the boys to meet me at the front of the restaurant in a few moments, as I swung around to the kitchen area, and told the waiter I wanted to pay the tab and tip for the booth next to us. The transaction was processed, and we left. As we walked to the car, my son asked me what I had done while they were waiting for me. I said “I just bought lunch for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas”. Thus I went up several points in my “cool dad” status that day.

After a couple of hours, I went back to the restaurant and asked the waiter what had happened after we left. He said Justice Thomas was at a loss for words when told that someone had paid for their lunch. The waiter said he just kept on repeating “Thank you, Thank you” over and over again.

Ps

Justice Thomas ordered Buffalo wings as an appetizer. I can’t remember what his entrée was, sorry.

There is nobody in our government that I admire more than Justice Thomas.

The attacks from the Left started on him before he was appointed. The hearings leading up to his confirmation were very emotional. I believe he sits on the SCOTUS by the providence and grace of God. I believe the same about George W. Bush being POTUS. I thank God they are in those positions at this time in our history.

Interesting.

I have heard the same theory from some black friends of mine. They told me that the black community here is dead set certain that she was the "woman scorned" and mad because he married a white lady.

I'm not sure that they had an affair though. My former college roommate was working for Justice Thomas at the EEOC. She testified on his behalf during the hearings, and IIRC she was asked directly about their relationship and didn't say word one about an affair. The impression I got (and I do remember her testimony because I turned on the TV and said, "OMG! It's my roommate!") was that she was interested but he was not. And BTW my roommate would not tell a lie - I know 'cause I lived with her for 3 years and she is dead set honest.
