Picture a chip the size of a grain of rice that can be implanted in a doctors office with a local anesthesia and the site to the injection closed without stitches, that gives detailed information about you to anyone with the right scanning equipment (Kevin Krolicki, Yahoo! News).
Once the chip is implanted in the person, the microchip remains inactive until read with a scanner. Scanners send a low-radio-frequency-signal to the chip, providing the power needed by the microchip to send its unique code back to the scanner with the ID number of the person. After implantation, the device remains with the person for life.
Alex Jones has a radio show, his guest speaker one particular night was Florida Based Applied Digital Solutions Owner. This man stated that the microchip was not to be implanted in humans. It will be on a watch for people to wear. After September 11th Alex Jones had the owner of the Digital Angel Company back on his show. The man now states that, because of 9-11 we are going to implant the chip into the humans, because if the people in the World Trade Center would have had these chips we could have found all of them and known their names, social security number and medical records.
The Digital Angel is a satellite that in action it is an end-to-end system that starts with a monitor that clips on to an individual. The monitoring device contains advanced biosensors to take readings on pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs. Sensor data, along with GPS-based location information, is transmitted to the Digital Angel Operations Center. Data can then be immediately sent to: Computers at your location, Land-based telephones, Cell phones with an e-mail address, text pagers, personal digital assistant (PDA) (www.digitalangel.net).
September 11 had a big effect on the chips advancements and whom they are targeted to. Digital Angel Medical Monitoring Systems will give physicians and clinical testing professionals around the clock access to their patients and test subject (www.digitalangel.net/medical.asp). The chips were only going to be used for medical purposes now. Just for medical records, diagnosis, and Alzheimers, and other diseases that is important for doctors to know if you are in an accident.
The microchip was then targeted toward the Military personal. The chip will give the military forces the ability to communicate, visualize, and prosecute military operations (AF2025 Information Operations 12/11/1996).
Microchips id on way! The chip will have records of you Commerce. It will Safeguard our business assets by: Fleet management, vehicle, equipment of product theft, reporting and recovery, tracking high-volume packages and containers, monitoring parolees, tracking livestock and endangered species, and monitoring nuclear waste, monitoring remote water reservoirs. The chip will also safeguard personnel. Personnel safety and security can be improved by equipping those on the move with compact, lightweight monitors by pinpointing their location, monitoring their physical conditions, and reporting on critical environmental changes. The chip also can be implanted into the brain. It is linked to the individual to the IIC, creating a seamless interface between the user and the information resources. In essence, the chip relays the processed information from the IIC to the user. The chip can also create a computer-generated mental visualization based upon the users request. The visualization based upon the user's request. The visualization encompasses the individual and allows the user to place him into the selected battle space.

>>>And at the end they mentioned VeriChip. A company you posted about at the end of your post.
Actually, I didn't post about VeriChip. That is copied from Applied Digital's website.

Applied Digital
People
Locate. Identify. Protect.
Every day, the unexpected and sometimes unthinkable occurs. An elderly patient in a nursing home wanders off. A baby is abducted from a maternity ward. An incapacitated patient is brought into an emergency ward without any identification.
At Applied Digital, we specialize in helping to safeguard people with the most advanced identification technology.

Whatever??? Don't put the chip in! Relax.
Actually, you missed my point. I have not posted an opinion on the chip.
My concerns are here:

Heads up.
One of the people that runs http://www.nonais.org/ just received a phone call from the USDA.
The following is an exact quote:
I just got a call from Alice calling on behalf of the USDA. She wanted to know if I would take part in a survey and said it would only take up a few minutes of my time. I asked what the questions are. Turns out shes gathering the information that they could use to Voluntarily enroll me in NAIS without my permission. This already happened in Washington state. Watch out! The USDA and some states are making a big deal about how many voluntary enrollments they already have from farmers. They use this number to emphisize that farmers strongly support NAIS. Makes me wonder. Be very wary of any communications from the USDA and other agencies. Remember: Theyre from the government and theyre here to help us.
