GRIN
Hey! Sorry, I'm late. So, what'd I miss? ;-)
LOL! If Ben votes our way, maybe we can promote him to full Nelson!
Well, I hope he's been stockpiling hand tools, seeds, information books, freezedried food, water, medicines, weapons and ammunition like we have.
Hatch is cleaning those Dem clocks. When he's good, Hatch is mighty good. Talking about Alito's remarkable qualifications and references.
I can almost hear the Dem tide going out as he talks.
On the Dem side, in addition to Ben Nelson, I am guessing the following Senators have to vote yes
Robert Byrd
Mary Landrieu
Bayh is running for President, he has to vote no.
Casey, Jr. is NOTHING like is father ... he's a real idiot
But he's in hiding and won't debate Santorum
Santorum would wipe the floor up with him in debates
Santorum screwed the pooch when he supported Specter over Toomey. He knows he's gonna lose in November. He has "Short-Timers" syndrome.
When's the actual vote?
yes .. and that is why they are ticked at Rick
You're dreaming.
I can't believe the two Arkansas Dems..Linclon and Pryor, will vote against Alito..
You think Byrd will vote yes!! No way!! How do you figure? Cause he's from WV?
Byrd can vote any way he wants...he's Senator for Life.
I don't think there is any question that Alito has more than a majority. The interesting question is how many DEMs will cross over, and if they do, how they will time the move, and how they will couch the rationale.
If the "Aye" column reaches 60, there will not be a cloture vote. If the "Aye" column is between 50 and 60, the DEMs are in a pickle. ;-)
Considering where we're at in history. Could this have been the best choice?
Most of us didn't like that decision but Spector appeared very fair and reasonable in conducting Alito's hearings and now making the nomination to the floor.
Spector does know American law when he needs to.
I want them to, I just know that Byrd and Landrieu have to vote yes.
there's a lot of pressure to comply and a Dem would have to have a pretty strong reason to defy requirements and vote our way.
I've been working all day and just came in to check on this. What are they voting on at this moment?
