Have you noticed that a greater percentage of Republicans have announced how they'll vote than Democrats. That's because a lot of the Rats are sitting in their Senate offices, worrying over how to vote. There are a lot of Democrats who come from conservative states. Landrieu, Lincoln, Pryor, Johnson, Conrad, Dorgan, Byrd....These guys get elected by pretending to be conservatives back home, but they vote mostly left-wing in Washington. They want to vote against Alito, but are weighing whether or not it's worth it since, after all, he's gonna be confirmed no matter how they vote. So they're worried. If they vote for Alito, they appear more sensible to their constituents but anger the leftist special interests they need for campaign dollars. If they vote against Alito, they'll get praised at DUmmie Underground and Daily Kommie but they'll hand their next GOP challenger an issue to use against them.
Scylla on the one hand, Charibdes on the other! Exactly the bind the Rats were destined to find themselves in if President Bush nominated a good judge!

I think it's Ben Nelson of Nebraska who's supporting Alito, not Bill Nelson of Florida.

There is not going to be a filibuster, nor is there going to be any new "damaging gossip" about Alito, as somebody claimed to know this week on this very forum. A small morsel, eaten with great relish. One of my favorite proverbs.
To: Lizarde
Am I missing something - how can there be a filibuster when there are already 47 yes votes announced? Under cloture, it takes three fifths of the Senators duly chosen and sworn in order to move to the underlying vote. Failing that, the matter remains the business of the Senate. That is, cloture does not dispose of the matter. It's just a procedural tool with a nominal function being to insure all Senators have a chance to be heard, and have a chance to form a reasoned justification for their vote.
Once a Senator knows his position on an issue, the only principled cloture vote is "get on with it!"

The DU. Those people really like to waste their time. And each other's.

If The Dems Don't Filibuster Alito -- It Is The End Of The USA
I'm not sure our Congressmen or very many other people understand that the Great Experiment will have ended as a failure.
We will be left to build another nation on the foundation of what used to be the United States of America.
Hyperbole? I think not.Nooooo. No hyperbole at all.
