More on ABC's Breathtaking Scoop [Ed Whelan 01/24 06:00 PM] From a reader who took part in the seminar that Justice Scalia led: I was fortunate enough to have a first-seat view of the famous Beaver Creek conference that ABC is making much about. . . . As I recall, the timing of Roberts's confirmation vote and swearing in were up in the air to the last minute. . . . As I recall, he was sworn in within 3 hours of the vote, and it was announced as a surprise at the conference. Scalia even mildly chuckled from the podium something to the effect that Uh, oh, now there going to say I wasn't at the swearing-in because of sour grapes. At which everyone chuckled, seeing that as fairly absurd. At the seminar, Scalia worked his ass off. He stood and did a tag-team lecture for some 10 hours over two days. The other lecturer actually got ill toward the end because it was heavy-duty stuff. I was tired at the end, and I was just sitting taking notes. The tennis came during the break on the first day, and Scalia gracefully allowed anyone who wanted to to play him in a couple rounds of tennis, then afterwards it was back to the podium. . . . Far from the rich and powerful, the attendees (I met probably a third who were there) were typically law students, law professors, small-time lawyers like me (with a non-professional interest in constitutional law). I didn't meet any high-powered constitutional lawyers, though there may have been some there. All I know is that Scalia graciously made himself available to all comers. I and most of the participants I met were there just to hear a great man speak on important legal issues of constitutional law.

Liberals are more concerned with titles that promote their elitist status. Liberals are projecting their elitism on to conservatives with a bit of wishful thinking thrown in. I am sure Scalia welcomed Roberts with open arms. Once Alito gets confirmed, conservatives will be an average of 12 years younger than their liberal rivials on the court. It is only a matter of time.

Justice Scalia is a mainstay of Constitutional law as written by our American forefathers. The 5 unjust communist scotus judges who voted on legal stealing of people's properties should be tarred and feathered, put on a rail, and driven from the land of America

Controversy Enters Day 2
Conservative Legal Group Calls for Investigation of ABC Report
by Robert B. Bluey
Posted Jan 25, 2006
Lawyers at the Federalist Society are drafting a letter to ABC News President David Westin calling for an internal investigation of two ABC News journalists responsible for a Nightline segment that accused Justice Antonin Scalia of ethical lapses, a source close to the conservative legal group tells HUMAN EVENTS.
ABC News Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross reported Monday for ABCs Nightline that Scalia was out of town at a Federalist Society legal seminar on the day of Chief Justice John Roberts swearing-in ceremony. Ross report showed Scalia playing tennis at the hotel where he stayedvideo that might have been obtained illegally, according to the Federalist Society.
In an effort to stem criticism of its report, ABC News on Tuesday invited Federalist Society Executive Vice President Leonard Leo to appear on Nightline, but reneged twice after insisting that Ross conduct the interview or at least appear on the program following Leos appearance to defend his report, the source told HUMAN EVENTS. Nightline anchor Terry Moran was originally supposed to conduct the interview.
Leo told HUMAN EVENTS the report resembles the Dan Rather-Mary Mapes fiasco of September 2004 when they rushed to air fake National Guard documents about President Bush.

Well they do get all tangled up with image. Perhaps some Democratic icon really was only about image? LOL!
I thought it was a very revealing article about how ABC thinks.

They are trying to make it into a petty fight. They recognize in some way that they are being seen as petty and in order to rationalize their own failures, they project the same if not more, onto the right.
And it just isn't there. Does anyone here really think that Scalia and Roberts don't get along? LOL

Speaking of ABC and leaving a few things out, last night Bob Woodruff mentioned that interim report on the CIA prison story without mentioning that the report contained NO evidence for the existence of the prisons. What the heck are the shareholders thinking?

It was a simple, straightforward lecture. ABC NEWS compiled a shoddy hit piece. I don't expect them to apologize to Justica Scalia - that's beneath the arrogant hateur of the MSM.

Meanwhile the liberal first Clinton was sowing seeds of hate, claiming she had been farmed out on a plantation. Guess we will be seeing 'news' of the heat stricken, blistered hands and shoeless feet of first Clinton taking her conservative lashes.

Well, the shareholders can't be thinking of making any money. I only caught Woodruff's idiocy because I was grazing while FNC was at commercial. I haven't watched ABC's news in years. And I used to tune in every weeknight.

WABC radio news is the lowest of the low.
Even WOR, a station filled with libs has more objective news reporting.

While the conference may have been much more than the ABC led viewers to believe, having someone from that group give an accounting is like having someone from an Amway convention writing about the Devos's and Van Andel's defending pyramid schemes.
If you're one of the "groupies" you're going to see things through a different prism than society at large.

I usually catch ABC News's radio updates at the top of hour on the local radio station I listen to. The updates are generally full of howlers. I'd like to invite the head of their news division to spend a news cycle at my house. Earth to ABC...
