Also I think in the case of the Bushes her book infers that she had a breakdown when Robin died and I am not even sure if she actually went to the funeral. If this is true she may have already had started to suffer before Robin died when it became clear there was going to be no happy ending.

In view of this it must have been even more difficult to try to cope with having to tell your oldest child that he little sister was gone for ever in this life.

That makes sense, I remember her saying her hair had gone totally white after Robin died.

I also remember her overhearing George tell his friend he couldn't go out to play as he had to keep his mom company.

That's when she realized this was affecting the rest of her family.
