Border face-off involved men in Mexican Army uniforms
CNN ^ | Jan 23rd, 2006

Men dressed as Mexican Army soldiers, apparent drug suspects and Texas law enforcement officers faced off near the U.S.-Mexican border after three suspicious SUVs attempted to flee state authorities, officials said Tuesday.

Andrea Simmons, an agency spokeswoman in El Paso, told The Associated Press that Texas Department of Public Safety troopers chased three SUVs, believing they were carrying drugs, to the banks of the Rio Grande during Monday's incident.

Men dressed in Mexican military uniforms or camouflage were on the U.S. side of the border in Texas, she said.

I think you are right.

We make it clear the Gov is denying they are soldiers, so we can kill some without international incident.

Every dog gets a free bite, I guess.

The Mexican Ambassador says it's gangs dressed up in paramilitary uniforms, so please shoot them on sight because they are drug or human trafficers.

maybe the Border patrol could get a few Bradley's.
Wait - the national guard already has them !!!

Good idea, but the response time on the Bradleys would be a little slow. Does the Texas Air National Guard have any Warthogs?
You would only need to keep a couple of pairs of the 'Hogs at alert 5 (or whatever the Air Force calls it) to cover the Texas border.

If a WMD is smuggled over the open border instead of just dope and illegals, Presidente Jorge Arbusto El Segundo should be impeached for dereliction of his sworn duty.

1. The act of invading; the act of encroaching upon the rights or possessions of another; encroachment; trespass.

There is absolutely no excuse for this. However, I am not sure just what to do to stop it.

OK, that's good for you, but about 10,000 other FReeper disagree. People do post the exact same story under different headlines many, many times over, some times by accident, other times not.

In this case, laney learned something. This was more important than your opinion of it.

If's you're so interested in seeing a story evolve, post the changes to the original thread, and encourage others to do so also.

And those fences were built privately by cattlemen about 50-80 years ago, to keep their cows from wandering over the line.

Unfortunately, it will take a dead Border Patrol agent before a serious effort to deal with this is launched.

If you believe that USBP agents haven't already been killed, then you haven't been paying attention. They'll just put *that* down as "one of the costs of doing business, one-world style", and bury it...

"I am not sure just what to do to stop it."

Think landmines . . . a very effective force multiplier plus they're extremely unpopular with the UN and the international left (that's redundant, isn't it?).

As you very well know, we're not talking about people posting the EXACT SAME STORY. But, why be honest, right? After all, 10,000 FReepers can't be wrong. The headlines were different, and the stories were different (they talked about the same event, but were different stories). So, I don't know what you're talking about.

In this case, laney learned something. This was more important than your opinion of it.

Actually, since I consider you to be wrong about this, I will share my opinion whether you like it or not.

If's you're so interested in seeing a story evolve, post the changes to the original thread, and encourage others to do so also.

Sorry, but I totally disagree with that idea, even though it's actually the second time I've seen someone mention it (not the 10,000th time). You know we're not talking about the evolution of a story.

If your way of handling it is so correct, why don't the admin mods enforce it? Seems like if there were 10,000 FReepers who agreed with you, it'd be a no brainer. Have you suggested it to them? Or, do you just take it upon yourself to propagate what you consider to be posting rules? Bottom line, if it had been a duplicate post, I wouldn't have said a word. But, it wasn't. It was you trying to "correct" someone who didn't do anything wrong.

Dang! You are dedicated! Wish I had the time that
you apparently have to search and research all of this,
but I'm just too damned busy recovering from Katrina.

Monday's incident follows a story in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin in Ontario, Calif., on January 15 that said the Mexican military had crossed into the United States more than 200 times since 1996. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has said reports of Mexican incursions into the United States were overblown and most were just mistakes.

Just one of these incursions across our border is more than a "mistake" Chertoff.

Iran leaves us no choice but to de-mullah them.

Mexico leaves us no choice but to build a secure barricade protecting our borders.

Our enemies make things so simple.

I am SURE that there are more than enough military men right here in the U.S.A. who DO know what to do to stop it.

It's a question of whether or not their chain of command gives them a go.

But, yes, solve the problem I am sure they could if given the command to do so.
