Warriors and wusses I DON'T SUPPORT our troops. This is a particularly difficult opinion to have, especially if you are the kind of person who likes to put bumper stickers on his car. Supporting the troops is a position that even Calvin is unwilling to urinate on.
I'm sure I'd like the troops. They seem gutsy, young and up for anything. If you're wandering into a recruiter's office and signing up for eight years of unknown danger, I want to hang with you in Vegas.

Because Joel is a wuss.
Thanks for reminding me why I don't read or subscribe to the LA Slimes....
I may find his position disgusting, but at least he's honest. Which is a lot more than I can say about 99% of the left.
And he's right. As someone "remotely" (via marriage) associated with the military, I probably could kick his ass.
He goes on to write that the Koso intervention was a conflict against ethnic genocide...obvious Clinton apologist. Geee, Joel, I guess Saddam never thought of that...how many tyrannical regimes did Bubba J Clintoon depose...try a whapping O, chief.
This joker is just pissed that his boyfriend won't take him to go see Brokeback.
pathetic, but it's the LA Times.
You know, Mr. Stein, I am sure they would not be surprised at your lack of support for them.
Nor would they be much disturbed by your lack of supportassuming they were to give you any thought at all.
"
I know this is all easy to say for a guy who grew up with money, did well in school and hasn't so much as served on jury duty for his country. But it's really not that easy to say because anyone remotely affiliated with the military could easily beat me up, and I'm listed in the phone book."
Do we have an alert beyond barf level?
Joel Stein is desperate for attention. He grew up in Edison, N.J., went to Stanford and then worked for Martha Stewart for a year. After two years of fact-checking at various publications, he got hired as a sports editor at Time Out New York. Two years later he lucked into a job as a staff writer for Time magazine, where over seven and a half years he wrote a dozen cover stories on subjects such as Michael Jordan, Las Vegas, the Internet bubble and it being Time and he being a warm body in the office low-carb diets.
Being desperate for attention, he has appeared on any TV show that asks him: VH1's "I Love the Decade You Tell Me I Love," HBO's "Phoning It In," Comedy Central's "Reel Comedy" and E! Entertainment's "101 Hottest Hot Hotties' Hotness."
After teaching a class in humor writing at Princeton, he moved to L.A. at the beginning of 2005 to write a column for the Los Angeles Times. He still contributes to Time and whatever magazines allow him to. But his heart belongs to you, L.A. Times reader. Only to you.
I suppose the Hollywood elite will sleep better tonight knowing that Stein will protect them with his word processor as opposed to our military.
He moved up on my Henry Bowman "list".
Exactly.
This guy is an "honest liberal" if there is such a creature.
We need more of these idiots to speak up and reveal themselves for what they really are.
LOL.
I went there as well and my first thought was, that he is still looking for attention....Negative attention.
maybe we can start a BARFCON 1-5 level system
That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. I can support someone who is honest, regardless of his positions. He's a chicken shit who has never done anything for anyone but at least he's honest!
It was a mildly amusing article and yes, I guess you could say he is an ''honest liberal'' telling us what he really thinks and that it would be excellent if the rest of the leftists were similarly upfront. I still think this guy is a POS.
It's kinda hard to buy he's honest when
he insists on repeating the lies of the Left
Henry Bowman kept to the "big fish". This pissant "humor writer" ain't even worth the Estwing treatment.
