Bank Offers American Dream To Illegal Immigrants

It's the American dream -- buying a home for your family. And now you don't have to be in the country legally to own one.

Wells Fargo is first major California lender to offer home loans to illegal immigrants, 10News reported.

"We're not required to ask the immigration status of any of our customers. That is the responsibility of the federal government," Wells Fargo bank representative Jerry Ruiz said.

The program is called "Celebrate Home" and Wells Fargo says it complies with all federal regulations, 10News reported.

Applicants do need a tax identification number issued by the Internal Revenue Service for people who do not have Social Security numbers.

Ruiz said the program is targeted to Wells Fargo customers who have been an account holder for at least six months and who can show proof of residency for two years in the United States -- along with proof that they have filed and reported income taxes using an individual taxpayer identification number.

There are an estimated 10 to 12 million illegal workers in the United States.

Critics say even though the program is legal, it sends the wrong message.

"Any time you have a bank institution lending money to help people buy homes when they're not even allowed to be in the country, it is something that runs contrary to the law. It aids and abets people who are breaking the law," said Ira Melman of the Federation of Immigration Reform.

A bill is being introduced in Congress that would make it illegal to issue loans to illegal immigrants, according to 10News.

I'm the same way. I am *so* sick to death of killing trees because everything I get is printed in English & Spanish. And now, it's *everything*... even my flour, basic staples. EVEN MY TOILET PAPER! WTF? Sorry... /rant off. :P

Honestly though, it scares me. And we wonder where our future is? *hahhahaha* WE aren't going to have anyfreakin'thing because it was busy buying the illegal immigrants. Which is sad. There's *got* to be a solution to this, and something more than just a fence & deportation. Hell, there's a *reason* they are all flooding across our borders, and it's the violence, corruption and heiniosity in government in their country. There's no reason that Mexico can't be a successful, growing, evolving nation. It's not like it's Iraq, ok? They don't have that excuse. But yet, their government is one of the worst on the planet. What gives.... What's sad is they are probably gonna vote even more left in the 2006 elections. Watch them closely.

This is the kind of crap that goes on when the government doesn't enforce the immigration laws. If they did, people like Jerry Ruiz wouldn't be pulling this crap.

Really - Let's see.. their property alone is valued at $250mil. And then, there's this quote: A Focus on the Family official would not disclose how much money the organization kept with Wells Fargo, its primary bank, but said the nonprofit group's income was $146 million last year.

I'd say they are *easily worth $500mil. *grin* I happen to know just what land they own, and what kind of holdings they have. They took over my home town. Heh... And I've had dinner with Dr. Dobson. :P

We don't need to change the law. We simply need to enforce the laws that are already on the books. Namely, if you are in this country illegaly, you are out of here. That will take care of it.

You can't make a loan to an illegal alien if there are no illegal aliens here to loan to.

Bye by. Adios. See ya. Problem solved.

Ohhh.. It's a bummer about the hassle though. :$ I can only imagine. But it scares me to think of what my hard earned, and already tax paid upon money would be going to hurt my own country that I love so much. :\

How many illegal immigrants with 2 years residency afford a California Home?

If you get two or three families together, they can qualify. When we sold our house in California, we were told that the Federal government is forcing this on the banks - that they can qualify by listing the income of "boarders".

Our real estate agent told us that the guy who was buying our house was getting "help" from his family to qualify for the loan. We have no idea, nor did our agent, whether he was legal or illegal. We had no right to even ask, or to ask how many people were going to be living in the house.

Our agent told us that at one of our open houses, some people came in and were looking at the living room, and talking about dividing it into two bedrooms!!

Why isn't California made into two states?

Simply because things in this country don't work that way, that is why we had a civil war rather than split into a North and South United States.

Well, you have the local credit unions, though i don't recommend it.. I rather like Bank of America, but I'm not sure - but they have been an institution since the early 1800s. :\

Maybe Wells Fargo has a "blue light special" for illegal aliens... credit score? "We don't need no stinking credit score."

So long, Wells Fargo...

In the end those who cheered on the death of our republic through multiculturalism, so called free trade, and outsourcing will have to pay the bill for selling out our sovereignty

To the freetratiors who would condemn 80% of the population to life in an anarchic third world cesspool while you live in you opulent gated community just so you could meet the analysts earnings expectations by using illegal labor and selling our sovereignty which was bought with the blood of many good men who believed in something more than the Almighty dollar : Remember there are many who have taken this oath and do honor it to this day "I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same! " It is clear to those who bear true faith and allegiance which category you are in!

Good post! I can shoot those "criminal trespassers" during the day too if they try to get into my house!

Why isn't California made into two states?

Simply because things in this country don't work that way, that is why we had a civil war rather than split into a North and South United States. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm not referring to countries. The civil war was about the division of a country, not a state. I believe any state can request that congress split it in half or give it independence. Hawaii has considered asking for it's independence; which wouldn't be all that bad since that means a loss of two dem senators.

Article 4 section 3

New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new States shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.

This language implies that if California's legislature and Congress decided it was good for California to split into two different states it could.

You keep showing that you put your ethnicity and the citizens of foreign countries that share that ethnicity on an equal if not higher footing than your own country.
